Wendy's Quick Pasta and Lentils

I was VERY skeptical of this recipe, but it turned out to be really good. I used whole wheat macaroni but kept everything else the same. Thanks for the interesting recipe! Tasty!

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
I am embarassed to admit I didn't actually READ the directions, I just threw all of the ingredients into a pot on the stove. I did roughly chop the stewed tomatoes, but even so, my sauce turned out more chunky than it was supposed to. It was still excellent! I made recipe as is, but it would be easy to adjust to your personal tastes. Thanks for the great recipe!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
Excellent! I used ground turkey, whole wheat tortillas, and fat free refried beans. After reading several reviews, I made the following changes: I divided the recipe between a pie pan and a springform pan and cut the tortillas to fit. I used 8 tortillas, spread refried beans, then meat/tomato/sauce mixture and topped with cheese. I don't think double-layering tortillas is necessary. Served with shredded lettuce, chopped fresh tomatoes, sour cream and extra shredded cheese. WONDERFUL mexican dinner! It does take a bit of preparation time, but very good.

The Best Bean and Ham Soup

This was very good. I followed the recipe exactly, but I added about 3/4 cup of corn, just to add some sweetness. Great recipe for leftover Easter ham!

I wasn't sure how these would go over at a St. Patrick's Day party, but they were a huge hit with people of all ages! I didn't change a thing- they were great.

Black Bean Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
This was great! I took other reviewers' suggestions and I used about 3 cups of chicken broth instead of veg stock. I also added broccoli and cauliflower. The soup still seemed thin, so I added an 8 oz. can of tomato sauce. This is a great basic recipe!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
I have made this recipe several times as a 9 x 13 cake and cupcakes. This time when I made this recipe as cupcakes, the top edges and the bottom burned before the middle was even done. The only thing I did different was I used regular sour cream and I usually use low fat. This is a great recipe, but I will stick with low fat sour cream from now on. Other reviewers have said that this doesn't even need frosting- sometimes I frost the cake/cupcakes and other times I've sprinkled powdered sugar on each piece and it still tastes great! This is a keeper!

Creamy Twice-Baked Potatoes

This recipe is so simple and uses ingredients I usually have on hand. I always get compliments when I make this for company- the recipe is easy to double. I usually top with shredded cheese and sprinkle paprika on before serving. Fantastic recipe!

Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
This is a great base recipe for stir-fry. I marinated the chicken for about an hour, cooked that first, and then added a mixture of veggies I had on hand. I also added some cashews and served over rice. The chicken was so moist! I added extra soy sauce during the cooking process. Very good!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
WOW. I am a new cook and I've never made a pie before, but there are so many great reviews for this so I tried it. I took a few suggestions from other reviews: I added 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, 1 tsp. cinnamon, and 1 tsp. vanilla to sugar/butter mixture. I also added the apples to the mixture and coated them first before putting them in the pie crust. I used 5 Granny Smith apples and that was PLENTY- maybe 1 too many. If you coat the apples in the mixture before putting them in the pie crust, you might want to see how they fit in the pie crust first to make sure you don't coat too many apples. Baking the pie on a cookie sheet saved me from having to clean my oven- some of the liquid oozed out during baking. Thank you to Grandma Ople and other reviewers for your suggestions- this was incredible!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2007
I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my strusel topping melted all over. I added the amount of flour the recipe called for, etc. Otherwise, these muffins were very good. I guess I'll try to add more flour to the strusel topping next time.

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: May 3, 2007
This recipe is very good. I will say it's a little different- as another reviewer said- it's light, but it has a lot of flavor. It was a TOUCH spicy for me, but that's a matter of personal taste. I might skip the red pepper flakes next time. This is a great recipe!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2007
I've made simpler chili recipes before but after seeing so many 5 star reviews I wanted to try this one. My husband and I thought this chili was "heavy"- next time I might try 1 less can of chili beans. I also wasn't brave enough to use 1/4 c chili powder- I used about half of that. It is definitely a tasty chili, but like other reviewers said, beware of the spice!

Easy Cheesy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
We really like this casserole. It's definitely a basic, simple recipe, but it's easy to play with the ingredients. This definitely serves about 4-6 people. I always use 2 cans of tuna and 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup, otherwise it's too noodle-y and a bit dry. You can also play with the spices- salt and pepper are a must! Thanks for the recipe!

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
I made this for a superbowl party and it was a hit! I left out the green peppers for personal preference. I also used a large, long platter- I would recommend that otherwise the dip would get piled too high. I also garnished with olives instead of putting them on top of the cheese. Thanks for a great recipe!

Greek Chicken Pasta

I started to make this and realized that I didn't have a tomato, but I had a can of stewed tomatoes so I chopped those up instead of the fresh tomato. I also used fat-free feta cheese- which melted fairly well. I really liked this dish- thanks for the recipe!

Martha's Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
This is a great recipe. After reading other reviews, I made a few changes. Instead of 2 cups of water I used 2 cups of beef broth. I also added 1/2 cup frozen corn, 2 stalks of celery (chopped), 1 tsp Worcestire sauce, and I sauteed 1/2 onion and 2 cloves of garlic while browning the ground beef. Thanks for the great recipe- I will make this again!

I loved the way the green onions tasted- I've never used them in twice baked potatoes before. My husband and I thought they were a little bit too heavy- next time I'll cut out some sour cream. Otherwise- YUMMY!
