About this Cook
I am an Army wife and mother and very proud of it! We have a rather large family that is based on open communication, love and trust. I learned to cook from my Grandmother growing up but have really expanded my cooking from the southern roots I grew up on to just about anything. God Bless Our Troops!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook would have to be Grilled Chicken Alfredo. I love the way it makes you feel better when you eat it, I would say it is way up there on my list of comfort foods. My family loves it and that makes me feel even better when I cook it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I would have to say that my favorite family cooking tradition is actually the one we started when my husband and I got married. Having children from previous marriages we were able to start immediately involving the kids in cooking and making it a family affair. It is just awsome to have everyone pitching in for a family meal and knowing they are learning from it and enjoy cooking.
My cooking triumphs
Well I dont actually consider alot that I have cooked to be triumphs but a few things. My whole life I tried so hard to learn how to make biscuits like my Grandmother and when I finally accomplished that at the age of 33 it felt really good! Other than that I would have to say that the wedding cake I made for my Dad and Stepmom was quite an experience and so rewarding to actually have a major part in their wedding. I did the cake and all of the food for the reception, and it all turned out wonderful. :)
My cooking tragedies
For many years my cooking tragedy was making biscuits. Either they were falling apart or they were hard as a rock. lol And it always seemed like they were the hardest when my Grandmother tried them. I am so blessed to have a wonderful Grandmother that took the time to raise us and teach us how to cook, she is the one I call when I want to make certain things I grew up on and cant think of what she used. I couldnt possibly be where I am in cooking today without her, thanks to my Grandmother I love to cook.
