Easy Apple Cider

Delicious! I think I liked it cold even better. Used 1/4 cup sugar and added 1 tsp vanilla. Didn't have whole allspice so used a bit of ground. Great flavor, not too sweet or strong, just perfect!

Baked Beef Stew

Husband who's a stew snob LOVED this! And my 1 year old ate 2 bowls! I did make a few changes based on other's reviews---dredged meat in flour mixed with garlic and onion powder before browning. used 3T cornstarch with 1/4 cup water instead of tapioca, used 2 cups beef stock and added 1/4 cup red wine instead of water and boullion-. used 2 5.5 oz cans tomato juice instead of tomatoes, skipped the bread and added 2 garlic cloves. Cooked 325 for 3 hours.

Very good, but personally I like straw-rhubarb and apple better. Just my taste. I did mix the berries with the other ingredients and cooked at 350 not 400. Used 3 T flour. Came out Perfect!

Skillet Meatloaf

The first time I made this it burned so badly on the bottom when I followed the directions. Last night I made some slight changes---Put about a tablespoon of oil in bottom of the pan before adding meat. About a minute or two after adding the meat and searing the bottom I turned the heat down to med low. Worked great! Even my 1 year old couldn't get enough.

Delicious! I halved the recipe and didn't use veal. Used milk vs. water but will try water next time. Also, just dropped them into my simmering sauce. Yummy!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Love this because its SOOOO easy. Shredded chicken for last hour or so. Thickened sauce with 2 T flour mixed with 2 T chicken stock (cut recipe in half). Served over rice. Would be great as sandwiches too. Next time will make more sauce!

Sweet and Sour Sauce II

Absolutely Delicious!!! SO much better than stuff from a jar. I cut the amount of the recipe down and estimated on the amount of tomate paste, but this was great.---mixed it with leftover cut up pork tenderloin and sauteed red peppers and served over rice! My, husband and 3 year old LOVED IT!

Tantalizingly Tangy Meatloaf

Delicious!!! used crushed pineapple instead of preserves. Baked 30 min then put on sauce and did another 20 min. Only thing I'll change next time is make more sauce to serve some on the side. My 3 year old ate 2 whole slices and even my non-meatloaf loving husband enjoyed it!

Steve's Famous Garlic Home Fries

Maybe I did something wrong. These were not at all crispy, the bottom of the pan burned. I followed directions exactly and I'm usually a good cook. I sliced the potatoes as the recipe said but see in the picture they are more chunks than slices, maybe that was my problem. Is there a secret I'm missing. Used a stainless pan, not nonstick, maybe that was the problem??? They weren't terrible, we ate them but nothing great. Would love to try them again as other reviewers described, crispy outside, etc.

Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting

Delicious! Didn't use the food coloring. Great, light flavor. Tried to frost a white cake filled with lemon curd, but the frosting was too thin to stick to the sides even thought I added more powdered sugar, but it set nicely on the top and was perfect!

Lemon Pudding Cake I

Loved it. Did use 2 T melted butter and added 1/4 cup more flour as someone suggested. Didn't use water bath because I forgot, but it still came out great. Will try a bit less sugar the next time. Even better the next day--cake a bit less spongy.
