About this Cook
I've been married for almost 10 years. We have a 6 year old adorable little girl and a precious 4 year old little boy. I'm a registered dietitian and freelance nutrition writer. I have loved everything about food since I can remember--cooking it, baking it, eating it, buying it, giving it, reading about it, etc.
My favorite things to cook
Mostly desserts---love to bake cakes and cookies, cupcakes and more. Like to cook too, just not as much, but like it alot better when the recipe turns out yummy as so many from this site do!
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a little girl I would bake with my grandmother. I think that's what started my interest. Then as I got older traditions with my mom like baking all kinds of different cookies and bars at Christmas and making homemade spaghetti sauce every Sunday.
My cooking triumphs
Mostly have been my "firsts". Feel very accomplished after my first loaf of bread or first layer cake with scratch frosting, first pie from scratch. Etc.
My cooking tragedies
No major tragedies just forgetting ingredients a couple of times---tends to be eggs for some reason. A pumpkin pie without eggs that was pumpkin "soup" and my grandfather ate anyway and a cake without eggs that just crumbled into a million pieces.

Cheesy Italian Tortellini
6 year old LOVED, husband and I thought OK. I used 20 oz package of tortellini, as there's no way 9 oz would have made 6 servings, but perhaps it was a bit too much for the amount of sauce. will figure out a better amount next time

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits
The best biscuits I've ever made--usually get hockey pucks. These were so fluffy for dinner and the next day warmed up butter and jelly, just as good! I did make some alterations based on other reviews--used butter, buttermilk (this day I needed about 3/4 cup only) 2 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp baking soda. I also made them early in the day, cut them and put on cookie sheet, covered with saran wrap a few hours until dinner. Can't wait to make extra and freeze as someone said they did. Oh, also used food processor---YUM!!!!!!!

Raspberry Tilapia
just ok. Sorry, I was really looking forward to this dish. But, my son who loves fish didn't like it at all and the rest just thought ok.
