I am a young wife, just recently got married. My husband LOVES the fact that I can cook and his wasteline has already started to show that. My mom has been teaching me how to cook since I was 7 or 8 years old.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake desserts. Especially cookies!
I also enjoy preparing tasty new dishes for my husband. We love to try new things all the time. Though we do have our favorites - chicken bow-tie pasta with asparagus, slow-cooker meals, grilled meats and veggies, baked dishes....the list goes on.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always remember that helping make dinner was just a normal part of life. My mom would give my sisters and I jobs to do (making a salad, chopping vegetable, cooking rice). As we got older, we received harder and more important jobs. When my mom started working, if we wanted dinner we had to cook it. It was just a natural process that led to my sisters and I being able to cook.
My cooking triumphs
My Snickerdoodle cookies always get demolished at events I take them to.
I am often complimented on my apple and peach pies (my father-in-law is always asking me to bake him another).
I just baked my first cake from scratch and served to guests we had for dinner. It was a hit!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make mashed potatoes, I used the wrong pot. I scorched the potatoes and my mom had to throw out the pot.
I once made cookies and misread the directions. I put 1/2 cup of all-spice instead of 1/2 teaspoon. Thankful we tasted the batter before baking them. We threw it away.
