Whole Egg Mayonnaise

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
Makes an excellent mayo. Couple tips: Lemon juice for part of the vinegar really brightens it up. Also, if you have a stick blender, put everything into a wide mouth jar, place your stick blender all the way to the bottom and turn it on. Wait for a second until it starts to emulsify at the bottom and then slowly pull the blender towards the top. By the time you get there, you'll have mayo right in the jar that you'll keep it in! No more cleaning out a blender or food processor!

Excellent, easy to make bread.. everyone really liked it! Added minced garlic and some cheese into the dough as well as on top. So good when it first comes out of the oven. This recipe could easily be tweaked with other additions. A keeper, thanks.

Suki's Spinach and Feta Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
Really excellent recipe that is easily tweaked for personal taste. I followed everything with a few additions that we like: Cooked 1/2# bacon and used the grease for the onions/garlic instead of olive oil. Swapped finely chopped broccoli for mushrooms. Garnished with crumbled bacon, lots of fresh basil and freshly grated parmesean cheese. Finished it all off with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Really colorful and delicious and I was requested to 'please' make it again. Definitely putting this into my 'easy' supper rotation.

Angel Food Candy

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
I'm giving this 4 stars because I'm sure it would be good if only I hadn't messed up. The sentiment that "sometimes the purpose of our life is only to serve as a warning to others" applies here. I'll warn ya. If you don't have dark corn syrup you CANNOT, repeat CANNOT substitute molasses. My first attempt ended up with a nice light crisy blop of carbon and my house smelling like burnt sugar for a couple days. On the second attempt I followed the advice of a poster that suggested some additional time in the oven, which ended up with a tinge of burnt taste... enough to ruin the batch. Bummer that, since the texture was wonderful and I could get a hint of the delicious candy that it should have been. Oh well, I guess it's not my year for angel food. Just wanted to lend a word to the wise.

Pear and Prosciutto Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
Very excellent base recipe! Rated 4 stars instead of 5 for unnecessary prep time. I made a couple preparation changes which simplified and cut the time . 1. Whizzed olive oil and raw garlic with stick blender, spread on pizza crust and skipped the pre-baking garlic step . 2. Sliced pears thinly and skipped pre-baking them as well. They were nice and tender nonetheless. Substituted feta cheese for the mozzarella, which gave a great tangy-ness against the sweetness of the pears. My 14 y/o daughter said "this taste's awesome!" and hubby said, "you could open a restaurant with this pizza". Will definitely make again with the above changes. Thanks for the great idea, Bostoncook!

Delicious! Used 1/2 whole wheat and 1/2C white flour, sprinkled the top with 1/2 cup brown sugar and a little cinnamon before baking, but kept the rest per the recipe. Very moist, really excellent! Next time I'll throw in a handful or two of hickory nuts and some craisins. Thanks for this most delicious cake recipe.

Corned Beef and Cabbage II

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
Another 5 start review~! I use recipes from this site all the time but this is close to the first time I've ever felt compelled to review. In short, cabbage hating hubby loved verything including the cabbage. Visiting Italian guest said "Hurray for the Irish!" I did the following: Used my largest lasagne pan, added apple juice instead of water per suggestions. Covered corned beef etc, tightly with several layers of foil. After 3 hours I removed the oranges and piled in the quatered cabbage, apple wedges, whole onions, carrot chunks and new potatoes. Sealed up again with foil and left it go for about 2 hours and everything was done to perfection! I also will never boil again. Thanks so much to the submitter for this fabulous recipe! Loved it!
