About this Cook
I was born in Oklahoma, but lived in North Jersey for 10 years before moving back home. I am 20 years old and currently attend the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
My favorite things to cook
Cakes, omelettes, pasta, and anything else I can experiment with. I do enjoy using wine and spirits in my cooking because it gives it a very unique flavour.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother and grandmother use garlic in everything, and that little tradition has been passed onto me. Even if a recipe doesn't call for it, I add a little bit for flavour. Also, just like my mother, I like to experiment with new dishes on a regular basis.
My cooking triumphs
I did this chocolate cake as my first "big" project, and it looked a little odd before I got it out of the pan, but it tasted delicious. Another of my favorites would have to be penne a la vodka. I have had so much luck with the recipe and tweaking it to my liking. I don't think I've had a single person who didn't like it.
My cooking tragedies
I made a white spaghetti once as an experiment, but it didn't really have that much flavour. Not only that, but I ended up with olive oil, butter, and pasta all over the kitchen and even on the ceiling. Another one was when I was baking a cake and it rose a little too much and ended up spilling over to the inside of the oven. It was awful to clean up!
