Cake Balls

Was not as great as some of the reviews state. I am not a fan of canned icing...that was all I tasted. Another recipe calls for a bag of Oreos and a block of cream cheese "mushed" together. It had a better taste than the cake idea in this recipe.

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

This is very sweet. It got good comments at a party. However, I was not able to form a "ball". I served it as a dip. Even after chilling, it never got firm enough to hold its shape.

Great Pumpkin Dessert

Really good and different. I took this dish to a work party and ended up giving out the recipe to everyone. One thing... I could not cut this into bars. I had to take the whole pan and serve it with a spoon. Still, very good!

This was great and super easy. It makes a lot. You may need to scale it down. I also skipped the cilantro and used reduced fat mayo and sour cream. Turned out great!

Chili con Carne II

Very good. However, I did not use ground beef. I wanted more "body" and decided to cube my beef (1/4 inch cubes,very small). It gave the chili great texture. I had no whole cloves and used a "pinch" of ground instead. I also added a small can of tomato paste to thicken. Turned out great!

Shrimp and Okra Gumbo

This is a good if you add some spices (the mixture listed earlier is great). The water must be cut down. I quit at 8 cups. I also added a brown roux to thicken. Without it, it is way too weak. Without the extra spices, it has little flavor. Also, add a bay leaf and some Tabasco.

Mexican Casserole

Very good and very easy. I shreaded my chicked rather than diced. It gave it a better texture and accepted the "sauce" better. I also skiped few steps by combining the soup mixture, chicken and cheese before layering. Turned out great!

Tomato Bisque II

Very good. However, I did not use fresh tomatoes. Too much work. I used 2-16oz cans of diced tomatoes and 1- 16 oz can of tomato sauce. Also, make sure you use whole milk or half and half, 2% / skim won't cut it. I also bumped up the sugar to cut the sharpness. Turned out to be thick and creamy, very filling!

Good... However, I agree that it is a little too greasy. Also, do not stir in bacon with the greens. Add them on top. They got "soft" when I added the dressing.

Egg Custard Pie I

This is not close to the traditional southern egg custard pie. I did add nutmeg to mine and baked it in a pie crust. It has a good texture and nice taste. It is darker than a creamy egg custard. Once again, this is not the traditional egg custard but worth a try!

Hearty Beef Stew

Not the beef stew I expected. It had a very strange flavor. It may have been from the paprika or the teriyaki sauce. I had to add water at the start. It didn't live up to what the reviews said.
