I'm a college student studying Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts. My specialty is cookies, confectionary items, cakes and other desserts. I also have my own business baking desserts for other people for birthday parties, gatherings, etc. It has been a great experience - a great way to learn the ropes (quickly). Having a business/computer background definitely helps with all the book-keeping that is involved.
My favorite things to cook
Apple Pecan Coffee Cake - It's my #1 seller and then my Signature Fruit Scones. They are the best I've ever tasted. It always puts a smile on everyone's face!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making chocolate chip cookies and buckwheat pancakes with my dad at Christmas time. The house never smelled so good.
My cooking triumphs
My "famous" Apple Pecan Coffee Cake, the Fruit Scones, Lemon Pound Cake, German Chocolate Cream Cake, all the cookies I bake, my creamy baked mac & cheese, stuffed flounder (mmmm) and honey grilled shrimp. There's more but I can't remember them all!
My cooking tragedies
Mmmm. I recently tried to make cinnamon raisin biscuits - they came out flat and dry. I eventually gave up on them and came up with a fluffier biscuit with garlic, cheese and peppers. Yum.
