Tater Tot Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
Good comfort food & so easy to whip up. I used cream of chicken soup, because that's what I had on hand. Browned ground beef with onion, then added soup & milk to the skillet to combine. Threw in a couple handfuls of frozen corn and spread that in the baking dish and topped with the tots. Baked 40 minutes, then sprinkled cheese on top of tots and broiled for a minute or so. Goooood!

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

I would give it 3.5 on a 5 point scale. I used half Velveeta & half sharp cheddar, but to me the Velveeta flavor was still overwhelming. Might try again using all cheddar.

Quick Sunshine Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
Good but not great. Like other reviewers, I felt the flavor of the cake was too mild...it didn't taste any different to me than a plain yellow cake. The frosting is what really makes the cake, I think. I did take some previous suggestions and use an 8 oz. cool whip instead of the larger, and I'm so glad.....16 oz. would have been WAY too much for a 9 x 13" cake. I think I will try this again and add some orange extract to the cake mix and see how that turns out.

Stuffed Strawberries

My neighbor made these once for a party, but instead of the orange liquer he used Amaretto (almond flavored liquer) which was awesome!! They can definitely be messy but so worth it =}

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
This dip is really good. Tried it for the first time for a backyard BBQ/party and it was a hit....the only dish that was completely gone by the end of the party! I made it in a slow cooker so that it would stay warm all evening, and that worked out perfect. The only thing I changed was that I served it with tortilla chips instead of the chicken flavored crackers. Mmmmmmm!

Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
Pretty good marinade recipe. I added extra garlic and just a little bit of honey as suggested by other reviewers. marinated about 36 hours and the flavor penetrated the meat pretty well. I only used one 1-lb. tenderloin, and the marinade was a good amount for it....if I had two tenderloins, I probably would double this marinade recipe.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
This is pretty tasty for how quick & simple it is to make. I was worried about the separation issues some people had, but I didn't have that problem at all. Just whisk it continually while melting the butter & cream cheese, and keep right on whisking as you add the milk gradually. My hubby used to work at Olive Garden for several years as a server, and he agreed the taste is pretty close to their alfredo sauce. I did find it needed a tiny bit of salt and more pepper, but overall we were happy with the dish. Thanks for sharing!

Bread Pudding II

Really good, I just used regular white bread from the store and doubled the recipe for a 9 x 13 pan. Don't skip the raisins, they really add to the flavor of this. A hit at our house!

Texas Sheet Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
This was very simple to make and turned out quite moist, but I wish it would have had a deeper chocolate flavor (the cake itself). Frosting was good; I didn't realize that I was low on powdered sugar and only used about 3 cups instead of 4 which made it plenty sweet enough. I also added some walnuts to the frosting because that is the way I've always had it.

Cookie Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
This couldn't be simpler to make but the taste is awesome! A big hit on the cookie trays this year. I ran out of white chocolate chips and had to use milk chocolate to finish up the last dozen or so & they weren't as good in my opinion (way too rich), so stick with the white chocolate as the recipe suggests. Can't go wrong with this treat!

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

This is pretty much foolproof, easy to make except for all that constant stirring....made my arm hurt but it was worth it. I like the combination of milk chocolate & semisweet. Will definitely make again!

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
Really good and not at all hard to work with. They were kind of crispy at first, but after I put them into an airtight container, they softened up and became chewy.....mmmmmm! Definitely use the almond extract, it does make a difference. I did need about a teaspoon more milk in the glaze to get the right consistency, otherwise this recipe is right on!

Chocolate Chip Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
This recipe has waaaay too much butter in it. I think it should probably read 1 STICK of butter, not 1 CUP. Mine was a gooey, soupy mess that went into the garbage. What a waste of ingredients, very disappointing.

Pumpkin Roll Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
Well, even though I didn't have much luck when it came to rolling this up, the taste made up for how bad it looked! I had made pumpkin rolls before without problems, but this one cracked on me. Luckily it was just for us and we didn't care what it looked like. Very nice flavor and texture though, would make again and hope for better luck when rolling!

Cranberry Nut Bread I

Pretty good, although not quite as sweet as I would have liked. I liked the texture and crunch from the nuts, and the orange peel adds a lot of nice flavor so don't skip that. I made 3 mini loaves from this recipe.
