I wish i could give this more stars! this was an excellent recipe. I read quite a few reviews and combined some of the modifications for a wonderful recipe :) here is what i did. i did not have ground cloves, instead I used
1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and 1/2 tsp each of nutmeg and allspice. i used all butter instead of the butter/shortening combo and they came out very moist and delicious. i also added chopped walnuts and soaked the raisins in hot water to make more plump. to top off, i used the brown butter cinnamon glaze as suggested by another user and these were perfect. needless to say,I'll be making another batch later on! thanks for the post :)
