About this Cook
Hello, I'm 50 and divorced twenty-plus years. One son and one granddaughter.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake-pies and bread! When I need a pat on the back I prepare a goulash recipe I got off the back of a pasta pkg (my son loves it!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Of course Thanksgiving with all the works. My family has the turkey (some years ham also), dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean dish, fresh salad or fresh veggies with a dip, rolls, a cranberry dish, cherry, mincemeat and pumpkin pies. Some years I stay home and fix the whole meal, and sometimes I take a special dish to a large family gathering. This is my favorite holiday!!!
My cooking triumphs
A Thanksgiving Pumpkin Trifle that everyone loved.
My cooking tragedies
A couple of loaves of yeast bread.

Corn Dog Casserole
I have made this three times. First time by the recipe. Second time I substituted yellow onions. We preferred them, over the green onions. This time I substituted some american cheese for the cheddar-I use sharp cheddar. This turned out good with both cheeses.

Amish Macaroni Salad
I read alot of the reviews before preparing. Since I use both mayonnaise and Miracle Whip at my house, I decided to use mayo. I prepared as written. I didn't have any bell peppers, and I forgot to add the eggs with the pasta to cook. Besides missing two ingredients, this turned out wonderful. I can understand it being too sweet if you use Miracle Whip. Outstanding recipe. I prepared it in the evening, for the next day. When prepared it does seem soupy-but the macaroni sucks that "dressing" up. Perfect the next day!

Sharese's Spaghetti Salad
My son and I loved this recipe! I didn't use the bacon-I was just too lazy to get it out and fix it. I used 6 ounces of black olives-my son wants more the next time. I only had two small home grown tomatoes on hand-the next time I will use more; my sister told me she subs canned sometimes. For the salad seasoning mix I used an italian blend-I bought by mistake and it still turned out good. This was sooo good! I will use the bacon next time. This is better than the store bought kind. Enjoy!!
