Recently experienced many changes in my life. Just moved from Hawaii to a small town in SE New Mexico. Graduated with my bachelor's in nursing and currently learning how to become a labor and delivery nurse. I really miss home, my family, and sticky rice. Culture shock met me at the airport when I moved here so I have been trying to get accustomed to the food and the small town. Cooking has been my escape from stress.
My favorite things to cook
Asian food, local foods from Hawaii, and DESSERT of any kind. During the holidays my husband and I have a cookie decorating fest!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents are cooks by profession and I have always seen them cook for 50-100 people at a time. It was great growing up around great food. I used to be annoyed because my weekends were spent waking up early to chopping and my parents prepping. Now that I've moved away, I actually miss the sound!
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean local style fried rice that includes portuguese sausage. I've also inherited my mom's Filipino barbeque recipe that is to die for!
My cooking tragedies
Macaroni and cheese on first and second attempt but I will try again.
