Maple Salmon

It was pretty good. My husband thought it was too sweet even after I added ginger to the recipe. Instead of maple syrup, I will try honey next time.

Oatmeal Whole Wheat Quick Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
It's just okay. The texture is great and yes it's crunchy/crispy on the outside and moist and dense on the inside. But I think it is too salty or it's lacking something. I made two loaves; large and small. Added raisins to the small one and it's delicious! The large one is too bland but I'll have to wait and see after my family tries it. I doubled the recipe and added 4 TBS of wheat germ. 4 TBS of honey and instead of the oil, I used unsweetened applesauce. Like I said, the texture is great for bread. Maybe if I added some vanilla? Will return with comments after I try this recipe again later. I baked it at 350 for 55 minutes in the oven. Overall...I did not like it much.

Applesauce Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
I doubled the recipe using 3 cups of whole wheat flour and 1 cup of oatmeal. Instead of white sugar, I used brown sugar and added 2 tsp of vanilla. I omitted the cloves and added a little more applesauce, cinnamon, and added a chopped apple at the end. My husband loved it and he is a health nut. He devoured the entire loaf in one sitting which is the first time ever. It was moist and personally I thought it wasn't sweet enough but my 1 year daughter loved it as well as my husband. That's all that matters!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
Don't use the sugar/cinnamon coating on the bread. It's too sweet! Besides that, this bread is really good. Extra vanilla and cinnamon. Lots of walnuts. Used only whole wheat flour and brown sugar. EXCELLENT!!!! Husband devoured a loaf all by himself in less than an hour. Family and friends love it.

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
Omitted one egg and only used 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. Added walnuts and mini chocolate chips. Turned out too sweet and had to bake longer than 45 minutes. Family said it was just ok. Not the best. Will try another recipe.

Chicken Katsu

A little messy but worth it. Very close to mom's recipe. Husband is a health nut but he devoured this dish. Goes very well with the sauce from the Japanese chicken wings recipe from this site. Would make again.

Japanese Peanut Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
Great dressing!!! Did not have canola oil so 1/4 cup of olive oil and 1/4 cup of sesame oil works very well. Must add 2 TBS of peanut butter. Family loved it with romaine lettuce and cucumbers. Great with Asian main dishes.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
My family loved these cookies. Added a bit more flour, some left over semi-chocolate chips, macademia nuts, dark chocolate, walnuts, and extra vanilla extract. Delicious!!!!! My husband ate most of it right after they were done baking. UPDATE: Just made these and OMG! So delish! Made some more changes. 1/2 cup of butter and 1/2 cup of applesauce. 1 cup of brown sugar. 2 tsp of vanilla. 2 cups whole wheat flour. 2 tsp cinnamon. 2 eggs. 1 tsp baking soda. 1 tsp salt. 3 huge cups of oatmeal. Did not flatten or refrigerate. The cookies came out moist and did not get flat like a pancake. Surprisingly the cookies rose high and all I did was roll them in balls onto a parchment paper. Added tons of raisins and my 1 year old and husband devoured so many for dessert. ^_^ Will make often and will try it next time with no butter...just applesauce and less sugar.

My family liked it! It was a bit too sweet for me. Next time, I'll use brown sugar and skip the white sugar. I used chicken breasts and baked them. It was very tender and tasty. Great with white rice and kimchee!!!! Will make again.

Grandma's Sour Cream Pound Cake

This was my first pound cake and it was really good. Family enjoyed it as well. I didn't do any glaze since it was sweet and tasty as is. Made two loaves and they were both gone between 4 people in 2 days.

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Raisin

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
Pretty good for a healthy cookie. At first I didn't like it but the more I ate...the more I wanted! Couldn't taste the peanut butter but then I used 2 large bananas. My husband like it alot. Will try it with more bananas or more peanut butter in the future. BTW...it's more like a small bite size banana bread.

Lemon Blueberry Bread

It's ok. Not my favorite. My husband liked it though. The blueberries sunk and were all at the bottom. THe bread was more like a cake and it was moist. I'll look for something else.
