About this Cook
Fall is my favorite season, and the smell of certain foods reminds me of past experiences or places I've been. Food is very nostalgic for me.
My favorite things to cook
My favorites to prepare would be salads of all kinds because of all the pretty colors and textures, but also flashy desserts!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fall is all about pumpkin pie and squash. Apple pie and home made stew. When winter comes along, peppermint mocha's and hearty cassaroles are the fare at my house. Spring and summer are salad seasons, with cool desserts toppled with blueberries or mandarin oranges! It's very fulfilling to go to the garden and come in with everything you need for a fresh salad!
My cooking triumphs
Definitly my apple pie and sugar cookies. I also won my husband over with my chicken enchilada's when we were dating!
My cooking tragedies
The ham I baked when I was first married. It turned out beautifully, but when I went to serve it, I found out I had left the plastic wrap on it!!

Roasted Pork Loin
This recipe was awesome! I really don't care for Pork, but my husband loves it and so I decided to try this on one of our small Costco pork roasts. It was easy and fun to prepare, super moist and full of flavor!!!

Moist Date Nut Bread
I made this for my dad because he remembered having date bread as a child. It was wonderful and he loved it!

Rhubarb Bread I
This recipe is wonderful! I changed a couple of things just for "healthier reasons" If you substitute 1/2 cup flour for 1/2 cup oats soaked in 3/4 cup boiling water you don't sacrafice moisture at all and it adds texture. I also used 1/3 cup apple sauce in place of 1/3 cup oil and cut brown sugar to 1 cup. I shared this with friends over for Sunday afternoon supper and they loved it. You can serve it warm out of the oven with a little whip cream.
