About this Cook
My hubby and I are from St. Louis, living in Nebraska. I work part-time so I have plenty of time to experiment with recipes and meal plans.
My favorite things to cook
Since we live in a very small town, I love to attempt to recreate restaurant style foods that we can't get here. I have a lot of fun with appetizers because who doesn't love appetizers?
My favorite family cooking traditions
One tradition we've picked up is making LOTS of food when we have guests. My dear mother-in-law always makes a ton of food for company. I enjoy following her example of hospitality and putting out a huge spread for friends and family.
My cooking triumphs
I've recently developed a taste for fish, and learned how to cook it so it's edible! My favorite fish recipe thus far is one I found here: Broiled Tilapia Parmesan. Broiled or baked, it's delicious!
My cooking tragedies
I've had a few disasters. Angel food cake is one that comes to mind. I think it literally blew up in my oven.

Chocolate Frosting I
I needed some chocolate frosting for one of my favorite desserts, the Chocolate Eclaire dessert submitted on this site by Kristie Behrens. This frosting recipe was the perfect consistency and had a great flavor. Cut in half, it was also the perfect amount! I, like other reviewers, went easy on the sugar and taste tested as I went. I used a bit less than what was called for and it came out great. Easy and quick when I needed it in a pinch.

Sweet Snack Mix
This is easy to make, and easy to adjust to your personal tastes. I gave some to friends for Christmas and they all asked for more.

Honey Mustard Sauce
This is so easy to make, and cheaper and better than what I can find in my grocery store. My husband loves it! I'll never buy honey mustard again.
