I am a student at the U of akron majoring in speech and audiology. I am graduating with my Bachelors in december of 08. I am really excited. I love to cook and my family has always been famous among friends and family for it. I had the best teachers in the world- my beloved grandma and my mom. cookies, cake, cheesecake, soups... not crazy about the meats end of cooking. salads side dishes and the like. I like to make anything that appears unique :) When I was in high school, I entered regional pastry arts competition competing against others in the Vocational/ techinical field of Culinary Arts. I earned 2 stars and my instructor was hoping I would get to state level but I didnt. For a whole month before state competition started, we waited for that phone call and whenever the phone rang, the whole class held their breaths. I also made a blt appetizer cheesecake a long time ago (or i thought it was) until i realized i couldnt find the recipe anymore so I made my own. It was different because it really did have tomatoes and bacon inside the cheesecake. It has become a hit with everyone that has come across it and it is a signature dish for my moms catering business that we started back in june of 2007. I am a little weary to post it on allrecipes because it's THAT special to us. We are still making it along with our other "signature" dishes at reasonable prices.
