About this Cook
I am a Registered Nurse. I work at a major medical center and have for almost 20 years. I am married and have 3 children. My mother and both grandmothers loved to cook.
My favorite things to cook
Anything! I love to experiment. I come from a German background and love the traditional German recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad loved to cook and experiment with new recipes. Every December, he would come over about 4:30 am and we would spend the entire day doing all of our Christmas baking together.
My cooking triumphs
Finding my grandmother's handwritten cookbook!
My cooking tragedies
My mother made an awesome spaghetti hotdish using canned spaghetti that everyone loved. But she always made it by adding "a little of this and a little of that". Now she is gone, and so is her recipe.

Chicken and Fresh Tomato Slow Cooker Stew
Very good! I used 1 can of tomato sauce and a quart jar of our own tomato sauce with tomato chunks. I added a bag of frozen Italian veggies. My husband and the kids loved it. And it made a really big batch. Thank you!

Orange Chicken Stir Fry
Seasoned my chicken with a little garlic and cayenne pepper. As others did, I doubled the sauce, added ginger and a package of stir fry vegetables and onions. Served it over rice. Fabulous recipe!! Thank you!!!

PHILLY Chicken Alfredo Pesto Pasta
I made a few tweaks. I used olive oil for the chicken and I had a sun dried tomato and garlic pesto mix that I cooked the chicken in. I added onions to that. I only used 1 3/4c cup milk and added 1/4c sherry. Then instead of parmesan cheese I used 1/2c ahredded Italian cheese blend. My family loved it!
