I've been married for almost 6 years and have two small kids. Life has been crazy this year because we're moving around a little--we moved to Minneapolis last year and now we've decided to move to Columbus, Ohio this summer so my husband can get his masters degree from Ohio State--a long time dream. I've been cooking my whole life because my mom taught me, but I had no idea food was a passion of mine until a few years ago. I became obsessed with the Food Network, serverware (anything used in entertaining), and cookbooks. I love entertaining and I believe you CAN try new recipes for company!
My favorite things to cook
I love appetizery foods--they're the most fun and the most versatile.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom made me and my sister cook once a week so that we'd learn things along the way and not be clueless when we lived on our own. I plan to do the same thing with my kids, only I'll start earlier and try to make it fun so they learn to love trying new foods.
My cooking triumphs
I get excited anytime someone praises my food at parties and gatherings. And I'll never forget the first time I cooked a turkey and it came out perfect--now I do it at least a few times a winter because it's one of our favorite meals.
My cooking tragedies
We're in an apartment complex right now (thank goodness we're out of here in a couple of months and into our own home!) and I burned everything until I figured out the oven is 50 degrees too hot. It really took the wind out of my sails as far as cooking for a while.
