Barbecue Pork on Buns
Barbecue Pork on Buns
Pork Chops with Fresh Tomatoe, Onion, Garlic and Feta
About this Cook
My husband has always been the cook. He has since changed jobs and is working afternoons. So here I am trying to live up to a standard that is totaly out of reach.
My favorite things to cook
Ok so I REALLY like frying chicken. I am a baker. Always have been, always will be. I love anything with meat and cheese.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up on traditional Newfoundland dishes. Other then that I was raised on BBQed porkchops and boxed food.
My cooking triumphs
I seriously make THE BEST chocolate cake on the planet. I call it my, "Death by Chocolate" cake. I also make a mean spagetti sauce.
My cooking tragedies
I decided to make a tofu stir-fry. Well looking at different recipes I confused deep frying with stir fry. I coated the tofu in cornstarch and then added it to the veggies in the pan. It was so disgusting that I couldn't punish my 6 year old son for not wanting to eat it. It was truly embarassing!!

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Ok, after making this side dish many times I have perfected it. 6 Cloves tossed in olive oil just to coat. Into the broiler for a few mins., well just till they brown. Meanwhile I peeled and cubed 6 medium potatoes. Into boiling water for aprox. 15 - 20 mins OR until you stick a fork into the largest potatoe and it breaks only once. I then drain and into a bowl. I add approx. 2/3 cup of milk. I then add pressed roasted garlic. Don't worry about the left over larger pieces that are in the press. The hand held mixer will beat it up. Added a few minches of salt. Then I added 3 tablespoons of marjorine. Blend it well. Last but not least I added a tablespoon of garlic spread marjorine. OMG it was to die for!!! WOW all around!!

Barbecue Pork On Buns
An AMAZING recipe, except...I added balsamic vinagar, salt, pepper, oregano and 2 very large cloves of garlic run through a garlic press. I did not put in the soda. I then sliced up the pork and put it into a frying pan. I then added enough B.B.Q. sauce to colour the pork. I served immediately with additional B.B.Q. sauce. It was AWESOME!!!!

American Shepherd's Pie
I had to make some changes. I would suggest reducing the vegetable broth in with the meat. I used oregano instead of thyme (I get heartburn). The meat could also use some more flavour, maybe not lean meat since you drain the meat anyhow. This recipe needed some corn so I layered frozen corn over the meat then the mashed potatoes. I was not certain about the celery but it was GREAT in this recipe.
