About this Cook
I'm 23, have been married for three years, and am expecting our third child in July. :)
My favorite things to cook
Whatever strikes my fancy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom always cooks little smokies in BBQ sauce on Halloween, those are so good! She also makes smashing Irish Stew for St. patricks's day.
My cooking triumphs
Anything my husband doesn't complain about. ;)
My cooking tragedies
I tried making soup from scratch a few yrs ago. it was so bad, my siblings wouldn't touch it. what's worse, our turkeys wouldn't touch it when my brother threw the mess out for them! In their defense, the soup was quite horrendous, and I spent the rest of the evening scraping cheese off the pot.

Balsamic Glazed Carrots
Very good. I steamed them first, than sauteed with olive oil, then added the vinegar and a pinch of sugar.

Mock Strawberry Jam
This is a soft serve jam, since it does not use pectin. It tasted pretty good, except it was a little on the sweet side. Cool thing is, since it does not need pectin, you can scale down the sugar a bit if needed. I might do 3 to 4 c. of sugar rather than 5 next time. It's a good recipe, it's a keeper for sure.

Oatmeal Chip Cookies
Very good. Slightly crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside.
