My Grand & "Rosie"
About this Cook
I have decorating interest and collect many wonderful ideas from which I can draw. I, also, collect recipes..a very large collection! I also love things of beauty..nature, junk pieces of furniture which have a certain charm about them.
My favorite things to cook
Delicious soups, highly-rated recipes from this site-especially chicken breast & also Itaian & Grecian dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making my mom's homemade rolls, which our family loves especially during holiday seasons when I bake;heirloom strawberry pie-my son's favorite;Mom's datenut cake[I don't like sweets anymore but others do;my own beef stroganoff-so easy, simple and delicious.
My cooking triumphs
My mother's homemade yeast rolls, French bread, beef or chicken stroganoff, plus my favorites from this site
My cooking tragedies
When I married, I couldn't fry an egg! Then, too, my spaghetti was horrible..glue.

Basic Vegetable Stock
HEY..this is super easy and sooooooo inexpensive stock. I started freezing when asparagus came in spring..everything..tomato peelings, leftover potatoes, used limp celery, tips of okra, leftover peas..you name it..hey, Stan, I GOT IT~SMART AND THRIFTY, plus delicious. I doubled the water and seasonings and threw in the last herbs-rain has stopped a lot of our gardening this year, here in MS. Please try this..you'll have your very own stock for the winter months.

Ranch Dressing II
I,too, thought it was a bit too much dill-even though I love dill. Added sour cream and mayo to buttermilk and thinned with skim milk to make easier pouring for salad dressing. Very, very close to the real thing! Thanks for the recipe. I will cut back on the dill next time and add garlic, since I am a garlic fan!

Crab Ceviche
Only had a small amount of crabmeat, but found this soooo delicious! I only added a little chopped red onion-didn't want the taste of crab overwhelmed. Too, I just sprinkle some dried cilantra and parsley over. And, since I am not a "spicy fan", I omitted the peppers-guess I am the only non-spicy person in the www! Still, I am making more today for the football games! A great appetizer!
