I started cooking when I graduated from college about 10 years ago. I teach health, exercise science, and nutrition at a university now so I'm all about health food.
My favorite things to cook
We love fruits and vegetables. In fact, I don't know of a variety that I don't like. My family eats a lot of whole grains, beans, fish, and lean poultry as well. I prepare desserts when I have the time, which is rare!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking for my family... it shows them how much I love them. We rarely have the same dish twice so I am always hunting for something new.
My cooking triumphs
Baking is a challenge for me because I don't do it often. I've finally mastered crepes, waffles, English muffins, jam, and homemade soft pretzels.
My cooking tragedies
I forgot to put the sugar in a pumpkin cheesecake one year... not very tasty, needless to say. I've also put chili powder in brownies instead of cinnamon. You'll only make that mistake once!
