About this Cook
47 yrs old, been cooking since a young girl. Love to experiment and refine recipes. 4 cats. Last few yrs have been doing container gardening on my terrace. Work at home f/t since 2003.
My favorite things to cook
Variations on my favorite bread recipe, always pasta sauce, soups, 1-meal dishes. Not a big dessert person.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making sauces and storing in fridge for quick meals/snacks (cheese white sauce, peanut sauce, cranberry). Cooking stuff that can be frozen in 1-serving pkgs for easy meals.
My cooking triumphs
A one-meal meatloaf, dough balls stuffed with various meat combos, a seafood soup with lime, and finally getting my spicy peanut sauce perfected.
My cooking tragedies
Sugarless chocolate cake made for a friend with NutraSweet or Equal - that would be cake & frosting. In my defense I'm highly allergic to all sugar substitutes and didn't know about Splenda until after the fact.

Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler
What I got was a runny mess w/o thickener for the berries (and didn't add OJ) with a thin crispy crust on top that did not appeal to me at all. I like a more substantial top, way too much butter for what I ended up with. Top was crispy not crunchy. I'm sorry, but not for me.

Kim Chee Squats
This sauce/brine is excellent. The only change I made was adding a few dried hot peppers and putting all ingredients in a blender (because I prefer to bite into nothing but the cabbage). When I read the ingredients I honestly wasn't so sure if this was going to taste like Kimshi exactly, & I used regular Chili powder & had to substitute 1/2 apple cider vinegar & 1/2 red wine vinegar (since that is all I had). But I can tell after about 12 hours only that this is truly Kimshi. This stuff is going to be absolutely fantastic in another day. I accidentally used red cabbage & can just imagine how dynamite this stuff is with Chinese cabbage. Kimshi is not always easy to find here, so this is just wonderful to know this recipe is so good & I can make it at home now.

Mushroom Stuffing Balls
Very pleased with this recipe. Been looking for something to do with veggies to make quick snacks. I put the mushrooms & onions in a small food processor, used only 3 eggs, added 1 tbsp sherry, and used combo of romano & gorgonzola. Only add bread crumbs until you have a sticky consistent, not dry. I made large & small balls & they were all very tasty, rest in the freezer. Thanks for this wonderful recipe!!!
