Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
This was wonderful! I made it for Thanksgiving breakfast and everyone in my family loved it. I made one loaf with walnuts and one without, plus some muffins. I also added a streusel topping, but otherwise, I didn't change a thing and it was perfect.

Lemon Square Bars

These are wonderful. I didn't change a thing (except to halve the recipe and make it in an 8"x8" pan), and I thought the amount of lemon flavor was just right.

French Baguettes

I am a novice at yeast breads, but I have made this recipe several times, and it always turns out well. I don't have a bread machine, so I followed the directions from reviewer DivineHealth7. (Simply combine the water, yeast, and sugar and allow to proof. Then add the salt, then flour and knead until no longer sticky. Place in an oiled bowl and allow to rise according to recipe instructions.)

I made these exactly as written and they turned out great. They were soft and chewy. Next time I will add some pecans.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
This made a wonderful pie. My apple pies usually turn out too runny, but this was perfect (I added an extra tablespoon of flour to the filling as recommended by some reviewers). I poured the sauce directly over the apples before putting on the top crust.

Pumpkin Bread

Very moist and delicious. I halved it to make only one loaf, but it disappeared so quickly that I wished I had made two loaves. I baked it for 80 minutes and it was done.

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2006
I will make this again and again! Easy to make, and tastes better than the store-bought ones (and at half the cost). The only change I made was using only 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, because the first time I made it, I thought the vanilla flavor was too strong.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Great recipe -- delicious and easy to make. I made it even easier by using Italian seasoned bread crumbs instead of adding parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2006
This is the best apple crisp recipe I've made. The topping tastes like oatmeal cookies. I didn't have quick-cooking oats, so I used old-fashioned oats and it still turned out great. The only problem I had was that the apples were too mushy; I won't bake it as long next time.

Tender Breaded Turkey Cutlets

Reviewed: May 21, 2006
Very easy, and pretty good, but it didn't have much flavor. Pan-frying it didn't cook it all the way through, so I had to put it in the oven for about 10 minutes afterwards.

Suzy's Mashed Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2006
These are so good -- they are similar to Cheesecake Factory's mashed potatoes -- and they're so easy to make. I scale the recipe down to 2 and make it as a quick side dish all the time. Due to the size variations of potatoes, I have to adjust the amount of milk, so I just add a little at a time until I get the right consistency.

Funnel Cakes IV

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2006
Great recipe... It's important to follow the directions and start with only half the flour, adding the rest a little at a time until you get the right consistency. It will probably end up too thick if you use the full amount of flour in the recipe. I don't have a funnel, so put the batter in a plastic bag and cut off the corner. I also used some of the batter to make fried Oreos (just dip the Oreos in the batter and fry). Mmmmm.

Easy Pancakes

This is a great basic pancake recipe. They were easy to make and turned out great, and all the ingredients are things I keep on hand. I will definitely make these again (and maybe try mixing in blueberries or chocolate chips next time).
