My first real attempt at homemade crust. It was so easy and turned out so great. Didn't change a thing!

Ok, can I tell you I've never made an apple pie completely from scratch before? I think the fact that my husband loves his Mom's apple pie has always deterred me. However, he loooooved this and said it was even better than "Mom's". I used Basic Flaky Pie Crust from this site. I used gala apples and added some cinnamon and apple pie spice which I just couldn't go without! I also got ahead of myself and poured the topping on the apples before I put the top crust on. Oops. It was amazingly delicious though! Thanks for sharing the recipe! I will definitely have this as my standard apple pie recipe now!

This got a "you can definitely make this again!" from my husband and three boys. I loved it too. My first attempt at something like this. Very glad I found this recipe! I didn't have any celery seed on hand so I used some poultry seasoning instead. Very yummy. Also didn't have enough peas, so I added mixed frozen vegetables (carrots, peas, green beans). Delicious all the way around. I made the crusts and though they didn't look pretty, the homemade pastry sure added to the effect and flavour! Thanks for this wonderful recipe.
