Angel Hair Pasta with Shrimp and Basil

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Great flavor...the fresh basil gives it a nice bright taste. Only comment I would make is to skip the olive oil in the pasta cooking water. Adding oil to the pasta prevents the tomato from clinging to the pasta after it is cooked. I drizzled a bit of extra virgin OO to the finished plate along with a bit of finely minced basil.

This was excellent! As good as our local Thai place. I added yellow squash and sweet potatoes and used my rice cooker to make jasmine rice. Everyone loved this one.

Very good winter soup. One question though...How can you make a beef soup vegetarian by using vegetable broth? The beef will still be there..

I make this quite often. It's especially good for a "company" dinner. I have made it in bite-sized portions for a cocktail party. It was a real hit!

Kale Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
Thank You, Scotty! It's easy to tell that you are a real New Bedford guy. This was wonderful. I've been trying to find this recipe ever since my favorite restaurant on the Cape closed. "Kadee's" in Orleans had a kale soup on the menu that was so similar to your recipe. I find that it is even better if it has time to be refrigerated overnight and reheated. All I can say though is, "Wicked Good"!!!

Yakisoba Chicken

Very good and easy. I too added additional vegetables and bean sprouts. I used reduced sodium soy sauce. I used less than was called for in the recipe because it's easier to add it at the table than to have too salty a taste in the finished dish. I tend to follow the cooking commandment 'Taste as you go', it usually works out in the end.

Happy to be the first to review this one. Fantastic!!!! I had a beautiful thick filet and grilled it. The flavor of the fish was not overpowered by the marinade. Super yummy...picking bass up again tomorrow while it's still available!

Fantastic marinade for boneless chicken! I marinaded several extra breasts and will use them for lunch in salads. I added both lemon and lime zest and fresh ground pepper instead of lemon pepper but followed the rest of the recipie as written. Loved it!!!

Very good special dinner for my husband and myself. I did substitute hollandaise and also used fresh lobster rather than crab. I live in New England, so lobster is affordable in the summertime.

Fantastic recipe. Just the same a my late(wonderful) Mother-in Law made them. She, too was Sicilian. These are wonderful when served with home-made (a New England thing) applesauce.

I have made these several times since I found this recipe here. My 24 yr old daughter (who would never try brussels sprouts) asked me to make them for Christmas dinner. Very easy and quite yummy! A real keeper. Thank you so much.

Rosemary-Scented Pork Loin Stuffed With Roasted Garlic, Dried Apricots and Cranberries and Port Wine Pan Sauce

Wonderful way to use a pork loin. It was on sale this week at my local market and I prepared it for Sunday dinner. Excellent flavor! I added dried cherries to the fruit mix only because I had them. The sauce was superb! This is a real keeper. Many thanks!

Salmon Fillets with Creamy Dill

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2006
I served this for dinner last week. I'm not always a big salmon fan, but I am now! I have to take exception to some of the reviews that said the sauce was oily or greasy. You must not substitute low or nonfat mayonaise, as they are made with chemical ingredients that were not made to be heated. Julia Child (Bless her) had it right when she said that there was no substitute for butter. This will be a regular in my house. The extra sauce was great with roasted asparagus. I did add a bit of lemon zest to the sauce and was heavy with fresh ground pepper, but a super way to enjoy salmon which is a moderately priced fish.

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2006
WOnderful recipe! The only changes I made were to use fresh mushrooms and served it over mashed cauliflower...true low carb. I found it easier to transfer the sauted beef (my local grocery store now carries chuck strips as well as sirloin) to a bowl while I cooked the onions and mushrooms. The result was a tender and flavorful delight. Patience is the key in getting the sauce to thicken. My husband loved it.

I made this to bring to dinner at a friends house. It was wonderful! I cut back a bit on the sugar and added cinnamon and nutmeg to the sour cream mixture. I also added fresh lemon zest and lemon juice to the berries. I thought people were going to lick their plates!
