I am a "middle age" woman and was widowed in 2006. I am the caregiver for my 90-year-old mother who has dementia. We live with my brother in his house. My son and daughter live in Texas.
My favorite things to cook
I love mexican food! It doesn't have to be really spicy, I just love the flavors and textures of mexican foods. I also love to bake. My late husband baked the best bread in the world from scratch, but I baked everything else. Cookies are probably my best accomplishment.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When our children were small, my son played lacrosse for several years. Lacrosse night was taco night, because tacos were so fast and easy to make when we got home after the game, and we all loved them so much. When we made home-made pizzas we always made a taco pizza, too.
My cooking triumphs
I made a wonderful cheesecake cookie that everyone loves, and my carrot cake is very well received.
My cooking tragedies
When I was a new bride I didn't know how to make spaghetti sauce and tried to make it with tomato soup! (Now my family tells me my sauce could be bottled and sold.)
