I was the submitter for this recipe under a different(lost) account. We still love it. Sometimes I grate the apples instead of cube them, and I have used dried cranberries instead of raisins. I get lots of requests for this unique way to use squash.

Now really; this was NOT a side dish! As an extremely easy dessert, it was great. I will keep cranberry sauce and apple pie filling on hand so I can make this quickly when needed. Even as dessert, it's pretty sweet. Great with vanilla ice cream.

I was a little skeptical when I read all the glowing reviews; afterall, how exciting could an oatmeal raisin cookie really be? Well, these ones are oatmeal cookie heaven. What a great recipe. I replaced the shortening with butter, otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. These will be going in my children's lunchboxes on a regular basis. Thanks for the great recipe.
