About this Cook
Painting, drawing, and cooking are high on my list of favorite things to do for relaxation. I love baking bread and preparing meals for family and friends. I find it highly satisfying to share my efforts with others and watch them enjoy a meal that I have prepared.
My favorite things to cook
Baking breads and cookies are my favorites. I also love creating warm and inviting southern home-cooked meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
"Tweaking" recipes goes back in my family. I think that cooking should be relaxing and feel that a recipe is simply a guide. Rarely do I follow a recipe exactly as it is written.
My cooking triumphs
I made chicken and dumplings for my Mother once and she swore they were every bit as good as my Grandmother (her mother) used to make. Makes sense to me because Granny is the one who taught me to make dumplings. Starting at age 5 I often helped her by rolling out the dough that she would make. She would then let me cut the dumplings into strips. I would watch as she dropped them into the boiling broth. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories.
My cooking tragedies
Recently attempted a potato & rosemary foccacia that turned out absolutely horrible. Tasteless and dry.(The local birds enjoyed it though.)

Indian Relish
Simple and delicious! I have served this at several events and it always gets rave reviews. Usually the first empty dish of the evening. To serve simply place a block of cream cheese in the center of a large platter. Spoon on this lovely relish and surround with water crackers. Put cheese spreaders on each side of the platter and stand back. A perfect recipe as is and also handles substitutions quite well. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Mini Pumpkin Butterscotch Muffins
Found this recipe today and decided to give it a try. I have to say that while I orginally thought that pumpkin and butterscotch were an odd combination, these are incredibly tasty and were very well received. I made no changes to the recipe and they were perfect. Thanks Megan for an exceptional muffin recipe.

Crescent Bacon-Cheddar Pinwheels
Hosted a 'movie night' last weekend that included heavy hors d'oeuvres and peach bellinis. Each guest brought an appetizer type dish. I prepared these and a few other things and have to say as simple as this dish is, it was the first platter empty. Got several requests for the recipe. The only subsitution I made was to spread savory chive cream cheese on the crescent dough instead of Ranch Dressing. A tip from another review made cutting these a cinch. After rolling up, put in the freezer for about 15 minutes and then cut with a bread knife. Perfect results! Try these, and I am sure you'll agree that for such little effort, the resulting dish is incredibly tasty. Thanks for a wonderful recipe!
