Chocolate Dream Cookies
About this Cook
Painting, drawing, and cooking are high on my list of favorite things to do for relaxation. I love baking bread and preparing meals for family and friends. I find it highly satisfying to share my efforts with others and watch them enjoy a meal that I have prepared.
My favorite things to cook
Baking breads and cookies are my favorites. I also love creating warm and inviting southern home-cooked meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
"Tweaking" recipes goes back in my family. I think that cooking should be relaxing and feel that a recipe is simply a guide. Rarely do I follow a recipe exactly as it is written.
My cooking triumphs
I made chicken and dumplings for my Mother once and she swore they were every bit as good as my Grandmother (her mother) used to make. Makes sense to me because Granny is the one who taught me to make dumplings. Starting at age 5 I often helped her by rolling out the dough that she would make. She would then let me cut the dumplings into strips. I would watch as she dropped them into the boiling broth. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories.
My cooking tragedies
Recently attempted a potato & rosemary foccacia that turned out absolutely horrible. Tasteless and dry.(The local birds enjoyed it though.)

Butter Flaky Pie Crust
Today was my first attempt at making a home made pie crust. I don't typically buy shortening so I was looking for an alternative method when I found this recipe. I followed recipe exactly and it turned out perfectly. Crust is buttery and flaky; just perfect for home made apple pie. I can also envision this being a great crust for a savory dish as well. This one is a keeper! Thanks so much for sharing.

Easiest Ever Fruit Cobbler
Made this for desert again tonight. It's the second time in as many weeks that I have served this delightful desert. It's so flavorful but not overly sweet. The first time I baked this dish I used Fruit Cocktail (only canned fruit I had on hand) and it was surprisingly good. Tonight I stopped by the grocer's on the way home and picked up a can of sliced peaches and a can of sliced mangos. It was wonderful! I cooked it about 5 minutes longer than stated in the recipe. It seems runny when first removed from the oven but firms up as it cools. Great recipe!

Unbaked Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies
What a wonderful recipe: quick, easy, and oh so yummy. I have made these cookies twice in the past 2 weeks. I prepared them without any of the optional ingredients and they came out even better than I remembered from childhood.
