I'm a graduate history student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. One year left until I go for my PhD! Whew!
My favorite things to cook
Anything BBQ, especially if it involves lots of spices. Indian food is great too becaues you get to use lots of exotic flavors. There's something about toasting and grinding spices with a mortar and pestle that I just love.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family are bakers...at least the women are. The men just kind of scrounge around for anything they can find. I'm one of a kind!
My cooking triumphs
Every time I cook something for my wife and she thinks I'm the best cook in the world is a triumph for me.
My cooking tragedies
I made some black bean soup that called for a 1/4 cup of fresh cilantro. I didn't have any so I just used some dried cilantro from my spice rack...That worked real well. It was completely inedible, but was a good lesson.
