These cookies turned out with a chewy center and a crispy, delicate outer ridge both times I have made them. Instead of using water I used vanilla. Instead of melting everything together I creamed the butter/sugar/eggs and then added in the melted chocolate chips. That way I didn't have to wait for the batter to cool down.
