I totally cheated and used a hot chocolate mix. Used 1/4 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of boiling water and 1/4 tsp of mint extract. I crushed the canes in a Ziploc with the flat side of my meat mallet. Topped my hot chocolate with whipped cream and crushed candy canes. Tastes like you fussed without having to!
