I’m a teacher by trade a cook at heart.
I practice cooking as an art.
I learned from my grandma and momma too.
They taught me to bake, broil and stew.
I feel like a queen with my pots and pans.
My cooking has gained me many loyal fans.
My family has always tried all that I make,
With love and affection it’s bread that we break.
A student of life with a heart full of cheer.
My joy of cooking grows year after year.
My favorite things to cook
Chocolate’s a food group I’m sure that’s true.
I’d like to use chocolate in all I do.
Desserts are at thrill and fun to make,
pies, cookies, and yummy chocolate cake.
Bread is lovely to mix and mold.
It’s truly delicious hot or cold.
Sauces, stews and thick soups too.
I like making food that’s good for you.
I fry a mean chicken all crispy and brown
with country gravy it wears like a crown.
So many things that are fun to prepare,
I always keep a recipe I’d like to share.
My favorite family cooking traditions
At Christmas it’s Potecia with nuts ground so fine.
On New Year’s it’s pears and hot mulled wine.
Valentine’s day is always special too,
Red Velvet Cake that says I love you.
St. Patrick’s it’s pastries with gravy and crust,
washed down with Guiness it’s really a must.
On Easter a mousse with lemony bite,
is always a grand spring delight.
In July blueberries grace the cheesecake,
it’s red, white and blue make no mistake.
Fall comes in crisp and cook,
lots of apples come along too.
Pies, cobblers and apple cakes,
we eat them with joy as long as it takes.
In October we salute our Silver State,
Indian Tacos in Nevada taste great.
November comes quickly with homemade bread,
We are very thankful that can be said.
Birthdays, anniversaries, pet’s birthdays too.
We have so many traditions,
How about you?
My cooking triumphs
My pies are my triumphs so crusty and light,
I love to make them, they taste just right.
With apples, cherries and nuts too,
I can never go wrong whatever I do.
I once made an apple pie with zest,
that pie I remember was really the best.
The crust was light with the apples so good,
I had more pieces then I thought I could.
My cooking tragedies
Who could have known,
my idea so bright.
Could turn into horror,
instead of delight.
On Christmas, while mashing potatoes so fine.
I threw in some color to go with the wine.
The wine was as red as red can be,
the potatoes turned crimson a sight to see.
Everyone cheered as they came to the table.
With gravy on top to eat we weren’t able.
To my surprise you taste with your eyes…
My mouth said, “Okay” but my eyes said, “No way”!
