About this Cook
I learned how to cook from my Mom and she's a fantastic cook! I always used to hang out in the kitchen with her when I was a very young child, as I got older she let me do little things for her when preparing dinners. So by a relatively early age I knew how to cook even more advanced dishes. Now my Mom and I are a great team! I hear a lot of good things about my cooking but it means most when compliments come from Mom. She's my cooking icon and I owe everything I know to her. I make pretty much everything from scratch (except maybe the pastry dough - well, did that once, and came to the conclusion that it's for people with too much time) and I really appreciate if others do it too because it makes a huge difference in the taste of food. I must admit that I improvise a lot and seldom end up following the recipe word for word. Cooking is a creative activity and good cooks always have lots of friends. :-)
My favorite things to cook
Pasta of any kind, veal cutlet, Italian antipasti, salmon in vermouth-cream sauce...
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to go home for Christmas and participate in the week-long cooking and preparation marathon. Ragout fin with pastry-shells is an absolute must for Christmas eve just like roasted goose and mousse au chocolat for desert.
My cooking triumphs
Sauce Bernaise, Chicken in taragon-sauce, creme au caramel
My cooking tragedies
I'm not very good at baking...

Fudge Brownies I
This is a very nice, easy recipe. The brownies turned out moist and gooey just like we love them. However, I am giving this recipe only four stars because I thought they lacked a bit of chocolaty taste (they were also rather caramel colored than brown). I put a coffee/chocolate glaze and cocos on top (1 TB Butter, 2 TB confectioners sugar, 1 TB dark cocoa, 1 TB coffee; heat all in small saucepan and put immediately on hot cake). And then they turned out very good. I will make this recipe again, thanks!

Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Coffee Cake
We really liked this cake. It's quick to make, moist and keeps fresh for a few days. However, I only give this recipe four stars because the cinnamon swirl "baked out," i.e. the sugar caramelized and became as hard as stone. I guess using confectioners sugar could fix that problem.

Lemon Cream Cupcakes
Yum! I was actually in search of a recipe for vanilla cupcakes. So I just replaced the lemon with more vanilla and they turned out great. I didn't have the problems with the frosting another reviewer talked about. Maybe the butter he/she used was too warm. My frosting was a bit too soft at first but after I put it in the freezer for about three minutes it was just right. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
