Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
This was really good. It needs some shaved cabbage and carrots on top, but otherwise this was really perfect. I also added some chili oil because I like spicy. I guess I'm not much for measuring, so I just eyeballed everything (equal parts soy sauce and peanut butter, half as much ginger and honey, etc.). It turned out perfectly. I will totaly make this again. It's really versatile and can be made so many different ways.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
This is really similar to my mom's chocolate cake recipe that she's been making since I was about 5. The difference is that her recipe calls for water, and this one calls for brewed coffee. This recipe with the coffee has a much richer flavor! Sshhh....don't tell mom, but I like this one better. For those of you concerned, you cannot taste the coffee AT ALL. It simply makes the chocolate flavor stand out more. I use a cream cheese frosting on top (one brick of cream cheese, 1/2-3/4 stick of softened butter, and at least half a 16oz bag of powdered sugar (stop when it's sweet enough for your taste). if you need any liquid add vanilla by the drop! you don't need much liquid). Anyway, I am making this cake from now on. :)

Oriental Green Bean Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
These are really great. I often cook green beans by quick sauteing them. I used dried red pepper flakes and low sodium soy sayce, but otherwise followed the recipe. I like oyster sauce very much, and I often try to find recipes to use it, but I didn't find the flavor overwhelming by any means. I really enjoyed these.

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
This is the fourth pancake recipe I've tried from this site, and these are by far the best!! I didn't have any blueberries, so I just added another spoonful of sugar and cooked them as is. Excellent! Just like you hope they'll be. I didn't bother waiting an hour for the batter to "activate". I made the pancakes right away. They were great. My husband said these were the best ever. These are my new pancakes for weekly use!

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
This salad dressing is excellent. I didn't make the salad, so this review pertains to the dressing only. I used half the oil as suggested by other reviewers and I used slightly less sugar, as I'm just not a fan of really sweet salad dressings. And it was soooo good! I'm really pleased with this one. It was super easy and so flavorful. I thought there wouldn't be enough soy sauce (I use lite soy), but it was perfect. One of the best I've ever made.

Appetizer Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
This was excellent and easy. I also used brown sugar instead of white because I believe it gives a more complex taste. I let it marinate for a few hours before grilling. Terrific. Next time I'll make some to use as a dipping sauce or to put on rice. Yummy!

Baked French Fries I

These were really good!!! I took the advice of another reviewer and was generous with the spices. They were a huge hit in my house. I will make these every time we grill burgers. Delicious.

Byrdhouse Dream Salad Dressing

Reviewed: May 10, 2009
I felt like Italian dressing for my salad, and this one looked good. Plus, I love rice vinegar. I only made enough for 2 salads, in case I didn't like it. The honey made it a bit too sweet for me--I'll cut back next time, but it was still very good. Next time I'll make a full amount in a bottle to save in the fridge. The herbs were good and the combination of vinegars went really well together. My salad was comprised of lettuce, cucumber, tomato, carrot, red bell pepper, radishes, toasted almonds, and some cheddar cheese. Good salad!

Aaron's Missouri Burger

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2009
This was soooo good. I'm so sick and tired of making plain burgers with just ketchup or barbecue sauce on them, and I didn't want to have them AGAIN. So I went looking for something different....and these are terrific! I was a bit leery of the idea of honey mustard and brown sugar in my burger, but it was great. I didn't have onion powder, so I diced some onion and put that in there too. Personally, I enjoyed the different texture of the diced onion in the burger and I'll probably make it that way again. Thanks for the recipe. This is a winner!

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
This was very good. My husband loved it. I used tomato sauce instead of tomato soup, but otherwise followed the recipe. I doubt the sauce made much difference. I will make this again. OK. I made this again. I used spicy tomato sauce this time and it was a great addition. These are good no matter what, but sometimes a bit of spice is good to throw into the routine. :)

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
These were really good! I never make pancakes, so I was apprehensive about how they would taste. I am really impressed. I heated the milk and added it to the melted butter and added my egg and stirred them all together with a fork. Then I added them to the dry ingredients, which were mixed separately. I followed the recipe exactly. They rose beautifully and looked perfect. I will totally make these again.

Cucumber Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
I used to order this sandwich when I worked in San Francisco. They also used 1/2 an avocado and they left it nearly whole! So delicious. My favorite sandwich. When I make it at home I sometimes add sliced radishes or pickles. This is a perfect sandwich!

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
Excellent. I made these and they turned out just right. I made spicy tomato sauce, so that added a lot of extra flavor. I used Italian bread crumbs and I salted the meat, so I didn't think they lacked flavor. I will totally make these again. I wouldn't change a thing.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
I made this tonite using egg bread. Like other reviewers, I used only 3 eggs and 1/2 cup sugar. It was plenty sweet for me. And even with 3 eggs, it was quite moist. This was so easy that I can totally see making this frequently. By the way, I used nonfat milk and it tasted great.

Stir-Fried Vegetables with Chicken or Pork

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
I made this last nite. It was very good. I used broccoli, carrots, yellow bell pepper, celery, napa cabbage, and mushrooms. I cooked some meat first, then added the veg. I didn't need the cornstarch mixture. I used spicy oyster sauce and teriyaki instead of soy, just on a hunch. My husband and I loved it. I served it over rice. Good combination of flavors. The sauce was very good. I plan on making this regularly.

Sweet and Spicy Green Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
This was really good. I'm not much of a sauce person-I tend to steam my veg and maybe add a drizzle of olive oil or some sea salt, but I was in the mood for something new. I didn't bother with the canola oil. I just let the beans steam for a moment, then added the soy/honey sauce to the pan. Since I didn't have any garlic chili sauce, I used spicy oyster sauce-I had a bottle in the fridge. The flavor really is kind of strong, and I was about to toss them out, then I decided to chill the prepared beans like a previous reviewer did. Fantastic! Really! Love them. I didn't think chilled beans would be any good, but these were delicious. I will make them again. And I will always chill them before eating. Highly recommend them that way.

Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I made this tonite and it was really good. Kind of a shortcut lasagna, in a way. I used nearly 4 cups (dry measure) egg noodles-I used the twisty shaped ones. I also added some more sauce, and it was a zesty/spicy variety. In addition, I doubled the cheese and mixed half of it within the pasta/sauce/meat mix and put the other half on top. I sliced up 7 brown mushrooms and sauteed them before adding to the mix. I put everything in a 9X13 glass pan and baked. Very good. I can see how some people thought it was bland, but thanks to the zesty spicy tomato sauce I used, mine was quite flavorful. I might add green peppers next time, but otherwise, it was plenty meaty with the ground beef and pepperoni slices. Perfect for a cold nite!

Hawaiian Chicken I

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
This was very good. I tasted the sauce before I used it, and decided that I didn't care for the worcestershire sauce in it. It was too overwhelming. So I added more teriyaki and then poured some honey on the chicken. I will make it that way again. Very flavorful.

Spicy Bok Choy in Garlic Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
This was very good. I didn't add any sugar, as I didn't want sweet bok choy. It ended up being a bit salty from the oyster sauce (I used low sodium soy), so I think I'll add it next time. We loved the recipe and it'll be added to our repertoire. Thanks.
