Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
This lemonade was very good. The perfect combination of sweet and tart. It didn't take long to make. I used 6 large lemons and it made exactly the right amount of juice.

Quick and Almost-Professional Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2010
This turned out bad for me. The consistency was grainy - as if I had used granulated sugar. (I followed the recipe exactly, however.) I kept needing to put it in the fridge to harden up so I could spread it without it melting - and my kitchen wasn't even warm. I added extra powdered sugar and it helped a little. Even after the additional sugar I needed to chill the bowl of frosting and the half-frosted cake every 5 minutes or so to keep it's shape. The taste wasn't bad - but it was just so hard to work with.

Pro Ganache

This came together well. I ended up whipping it after it chilled to frost "Too Much Chocolate Cake" form this website. It was very yummy. My only complaint was that it was very cocoa-y. Next time, I will either add powdered sugar or use milk chocolate. That is just my preference, though.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
AMAZING!! So Delicious. I couldn't find the vanilla cool whip, and so I decided to use homemade whipped cream for both the cool whips called for. I do not regret it! It actually sat in my fridge for 3 days before we ate it (tempting me the whole time!) and when we finally ate it, I couldn't believe how thick and mousse-like the chocolate pudding and whipped cream were. I think letting it sit a long time contributed to that. We loved it!

I've never been a fan of cherry pie. This one was fabulous though. I couldn't get enough.

Overnight Apple Cinnamon French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
The only thing I thought would be improved with this recipe, was to cut down on the sugar used. I have a sweet tooth, but this was even a little much for me. Next time I will make my own apple mixture (cooking them in butter, a touch of sugar and cinnamon) instead of the pie filling - which I thought added a lot of sugar and also made the texture of the apples softer than what I would've liked. I think overall, it is a good recipe though. I will make minor adjustments for our tastes and use the recipe a lot.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
This came together in 5 minutes and was perfect for our weeknight dinner. I agree with the reviewer who said this is a good base. I added a few of my own spices to suit my tastes. That's a beautiful thing about this recipe. You can add what you want, in the quantities you want, or not add anything at all. It was very good and easy.

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
I unfortunately did not like the flavor of this pulled pork. It was easy enough to put together - and I followed the directions exactly - except that I used 8 thick pork chops instead of a roast. I cooked them for 4 1/2 hours on high and they fell apart. The flavor was very...pungent. I took the pork out of the crock pot, shredded it, added just a little of the sauce back to it (pureed to take out the chunky texture of the onions), drained the rest of the sauce out of the crock pot, put the pork back in the crock pot and put my favorite BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's Original) back in. So, I was able to save it, but as written, I didn't like this recipe.

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly and these came out perfectly. I served them as a side dish to pulled pork sandwiches and corn on the cob and it complimented the meal nicely. I have no doubt that as a topping to ice cream or pancakes or crepes that they would be just as divine!

Belles Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
I followed the recipe and these turned out perfectly! I cooked one sheet at a time for 10 minutes each and they were just right. The aluminum foil underneath gave the buns a crisp golden bottom and made clean up a snap! I'll use this recipe a lot - so that you so much!

Golden Yam Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
I thought these were good. They were mushy though. I think I needed to cook them longer. I had a clean toothpick at 25 minutes, but I guess I should've let them go the full 30. I did used fresh yams. The flavor was great, but I need to make these again to see if they turn out better when cooked for the full amount of time.

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
I thought the flavor was wonderful, but my roast was overcooked. My roast was smaller - only 2 pounds. I cooked it according to the instructions and during the last 30 minutes, when I turned the oven back on, I watched the thermometer like a hawk. I pulled it out at 146 degrees. I suppose I should've cooked it for less time initially - something I'll try next time. However, that isn't the recipe's fault. So, I'm giving it 5 stars because the flavor really was wonderful and it was very simple to put together.

Almost No Fat Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I appreciate this recipe because of the recent changes I have made to my diet. Every now and then, I still want something sweet. So, I can have this and not feel too guilty. I substitute Splenda for sugar with no problems for fewer calories. Post Edit: I made this again today (Jan 22, 2010) and made a few changes that really improved this. The first time I made this, I liked it, but it was a bit rubbery and dry. This time I added one more banana which made 1 1/2 cups mashed banana, and I added 1/2 cup applesauce instead of the 1/4 cup the recipe called for. I also had a leftover brown sugar/cinnamon mixture that I had used for something else which I sprinkled sparingly over the top which made for a yummy crust. My bread this time was moist and delicious with a perfect crust!

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I doubled the recipe for a 9x13 pan and had to cook it for 60 minutes. It was still pretty mushy when I served it. We loved the taste, but the texture was off for us. We don't like our regular French toast mushy though, so that is just our preference. Next time, I will reduce the wet ingredients a bit and see if that helps the texture.

Mini Pineapple Upside-Down Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I thought this was so yummy! I made it into a bundt cake because I lacked supplies to make the mini cakes. My only problem was that, because I followed the recipe, the brown sugar mixture that I put into the bottom of the pan was a little too much and it disintegrated the cake a bit. It still tasted divine, but the presentation wasn't everything I had hoped. Easily fixable problem for next time!
