About this Cook
I enjoy life! Each day offers something new. My husband and I just returned from a mission trip to Haiti.I think missionary work is something we will pursue in our lives.I stay pretty busy being on a couple of neighborhood committees and hanging out with my 2 grandchildren!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking dinner. Dinnertime is when we all come together to share our day. I love having a new meal for everyone to try on the table or a family favorite. We like tasty casseroles as well as a great steak.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hmmm it's got to be the Thanksgiving tradition. Don't you just have to have tom turkey and dressing? I cannot imagine Thanksgiving without tons of food! We are also starting a cool monthly tradition of having the women in the family challenge the men in the family to a "creative" dinner challenge! This is fun stuff. The dinner must be original. We invite a couple of friends over to be our "judges". Fun to be had by all!
My cooking triumphs
As a teen I was the goulash queen in our house. We had goulash so often that I rarely make it today. I am known in the family for making awesome coleslaw. Most everything turns out pretty well, some better than others of course.
My cooking tragedies
Oh my gosh are you kidding me! I don't bake sweets very well. With the help of my grandkids we made a postachio cake. As we all bit into our first bite my 7 year old grandson's eyes got big as saucers. He started trying to talk and of course being Miss Manners I told him not to talk with food in his mouth. He just started pointing to his mouth and looking terrified. He finally pulled from his mouth a metal blade which had come off of the nut chopper(as I washed the chopper I had wondered why the blade looked different)! Yikes. It's a wonder he didn't shred the inside of his mouth. Needless to say no one asks for cake around our house ;)

Cherry Pound Cake
Made exactly as directions state. The taste was good but the cake was just a bit to dry for our liking. And to be fair I am not personally a fan of cherries.

Smoked Salmon Mousse
This really is delicious but for me the salmon flavor was kind of overpowered by the cream cheese. I used sockeye so maybe I need to try and different variety of salmon. But all in all it was delicious.

Seafood Salad Supreme
Excellent seafood salad. This certainly gets added to my keeper recipes. I did end up adding a bit more Old Bay, otherwise followed the recipe. It's delicious as is or it's a great start to being creative. Can't go wrong.
