About this Cook
I am a happily married, working girl. My husband and I are both self employed, so I enjoy the challenge of trying to prepare flavourful & interesting meals with a hectic schedule.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy experimenting with new recipes and flavour combinations, as well as preparing dishes that I grew up with. I love to cook authentic German, Italian & Indian. Also, party food!! Think chicken wings, quesadillas, and king-sized nacho platters with guacamole.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking together with my husband & entertaining friends and family. Homemade pizza parties, Chinese fried rice with chicken & shrimp and my own special (and famous) wonton soup. Plus I have finally mastered the family pasta sauce, braciole, veal and meatballs! (A very proud accomplishment).
My cooking triumphs
Every time I try a new recipe it feels like a triumph! I guess, homemade apple pie and chicken noodle soup. Any baked dish that involves pastry from scratch. Vegetarian dishes that my husband begs me to make. Old family recipes and of course, cabbage rolls.
My cooking tragedies
Turned on the blender once without top lid on properly, that was a mess. And I can't forget the grease fire I started the first time I tried making homemade french fries. I burned my eyelashes off ;)

Hungarian Mushroom Soup
This is a very good mushroom soup. The golden colour in the photo was sort of turning me off since I am used to a paler mushroom soup, but please try this recipe and you won't be let down. I made it exactly as written except forgot to add the lemon juice (didn't miss it) and I served it topped with huge crunchy garlic croutons. Yum!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs
Very good. I made these the first time for a 10th anniversary BBQ. They were a huge hit. They smell great while cooking and I was pleasantly surprised that the white meat didn't dry out at all, was very tender. Great recipe for adults and kids alike. Marinated for 6 hours, and got multiple requests for the recipe. Will make again.

Simple Garlic and Basil Pesto
Thank you for a super pesto recipe that doesn't have 2 dozen ingredients like the rest on this website. If you are looking for a very tasty & easy recipe, this is it. I followed the other reviewer's suggestion to freeze leftover portions in an ice cube tray. Left out the brazil nuts and I highly recommend toasting the pine nuts before adding them.
