About this Cook
I enjoy cooking and baking but I need to follow a recipe. My mom was so talented she could whip something together without following a plan. Unfortunately, I do not have that talent! When I do make something by following the planned recipe it comes out well! I get many compliments.
My favorite things to cook
My signature dish is sausage and peppers. It takes forever because I fry them first and then bake it. It's gone as soon as I put it out at a function. We have an annual Italian picnic we attend in July. When I walk in with the pan the men stop playing bocci ball or whatever they are doing to be sure and get some before it's gone. Feels good to know people love it. I am also noted for my brownies - been making the same recipe since I was 16 - it's so easy and I got it out of the Betty Crocker cookbook. I double the ingredients.
My favorite family cooking traditions
cookies at Christmas. Decorating the house and your table
My cooking triumphs
DH loves my stuff clams and That I made on my own throwing it together and was very proud. First time I threw something together and it's a fav. also brownies and sausage and peppers
My cooking tragedies
haahahahaha lots of these. Probably when younger would turn the top burner up high and walk away. One time I was boiling water and walked away, answered the phone and forgot about it. When I remembered the water had evaporated and I picked up the pan without a mitt or glove it was so hot!!!! But before I could place it down (more like throw it down) the whole bottom circle fell to the floor! I burned my mom's kitchen floor it started to melt the linoleim - ugh! My dad talked about it for years!
