I'm a biotechnology student at James Madison University, and I enjoy cooking in my spare time (there isn't a lot of it). I'm a swimmer (I've worked as both a lifeguard and swim instructor), a geek, and I'm little bit crazy. My family is from Southwest VA, so I've got the Appalachian twang goin' on too. A crazy liberal southern scientist? Sure. I guess that's me. My philosophy on life? Work hard, play harder.
My favorite things to cook
Dessert- everyone loves sweets, right?
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hrm... making messes? We seem to be good at that.
My cooking triumphs
I tend to have the day-to-day victories like coming up with random combinations that can work as dinner. It's the little things that count right? I seem to do really well when I improvise and do things my way. Although I make mistakes, I usually end up pulling everything together.
My cooking tragedies
There was an incident with a batch of cookies... and I blew a fuse in a mixer. And that time I caught garlic bread on fire under the broiler... I'm kind of like a mad scientist but transplanted into a kitchen. Most of my kitchen "tragedies" are caused by my short attention span, misreading of directions, or tendency to juggle too many tasks.
