About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake breads and rolls. I love to experiment with different dishes. I make at least one new recipe a week.
My cooking tragedies
I was making rhubarb punch. I put the hot rhubarb in the blender to puree. The steam from the rhubarb made the lid fly off when I started the blender. Not only did I have the rhubarb everywhere, but it hit me in the forehead and gave me a burn! My husband told me to make up a "good" story of how I got burned when people asked. I told him that I thought flying rhubarb was a good enough story!

Apple Banana Cupcakes
These are very good! I used 1 c. white flour and 1 c. wheat flour and substituted 1/3 c. of applesauce for half of the shortening...and they still turned out excellent!

Swiss Vegetable Medley
My family thought this dish was great. It is hard to get everyone to eat vegetables and this one definitely does that. I can't wait to bring it to a potluck as I am sure it will go over well. The only thing I did differently was put buttery crushed crackers on top instead of the onions - since I didn't have the onions on hand.

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce
This is a great recipe. I liked that I didn't have to make a mess of my stove! I can't wait to serve it at supper tonight! The kids will love it!
