After graduating from college, I moved to Washington D.C. to live with my now husband. I have a wonderful grandmother who can cook ANYTHING from scratch, but the gene was not passed to me! I'm slowly working my way to becoming a better cook by learning the basics and experimenting with recipes!
My favorite things to cook
I love making desserts! Life is pretty rush rush rush here in D.C. so I'm always trying out the quick and easy recipes. I find myself often trying to make recipes healthier.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have cooked Thanksgiving dinner with my grandma since before I can remember. We make everything from scratch: pie crusts, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauces, biscuits... I always had a blast just hanging out and cooking. I'm glad I grew up with this, because it was alway so stress free I never freak out when the holiday rolls around.
My cooking triumphs
I just started cooking "meats"... meaning steak, pot roast, pork chops, etc. Growing up, my father was always in charge of any "meat" portion of our meals. Any time I don't over or under cook a meat I'm happy!!
My cooking tragedies
There have many tragedies in my kitchen! I'm lucky though, because my husband will eat just about anything and tell me he likes it. I may be my own biggest critic.
