About this Cook
I am married to a great man who is a university professor. I have a two year old daughter who is a delight, 9 month old twin sons are gobbling up food faster than I can make it, and 2 huge black labs who are my constant companions. I used to teach middle and high school, but I am enjoying staying home and taking care of my family!
My favorite things to cook
All of it! I enjoy creating a meal rather than focusing on one recipe. I don't cook much dessert and stick to my tried and true bread/roll recipes, so I can experiment with the rest of the meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We do "breakfast" on Sunday nights since we've usually had a large lunch/dinner after church (and my husband has become an omelet pro!). We are getting into homemade pizza for the weekend nights. I look forward to teaching my daughter how to cook the "family" recipes (bread, hot pepper jelly, etc.).
My cooking triumphs
I cooked a showstopper meal for a couple who was getting engaged--it was impressive and they've been married now for years!
My cooking tragedies
Where to start? The hot can of carmelized condensed milk that exploded all over me, the ceiling (and accompanying pot rack full of pots), and the rest of the kitchen still lives most vividly in my memory.

Chicken Korma II
This was really good. I gave it 4 stars because it's not quite the perfection/same as the restaurant version. Still, it's very good and even my kids ate it. I subbed coconut milk for the heavy cream, but otherwise left it exactly the same. Oh--I didn't have cashews--that may be why it's not the same as the restaurant version. I'll be making it again for sure.

Sweet Potato Bread I
Per other reviewers' suggestions, I reduced the sugar some (and used half brown) and used applesauce instead of oil. I also added 1/2 t. allspice. A winner! It makes great muffins by the way.

Tasty Buns
These are very good-tasting and good-textured buns--perfect for homemade sandwich buns. I only gave the recipe 4 stars because I had to mix in quite a bit of extra flour (1-2 cups) just to get the dough dry enough to handle. It was too sticky to shape or hold a shape when I followed the recipe as written.
