I come from a Danish background, which would normally mean I can make pastries with my eyes closed. I can not. I do okay with cream puffs, but other than that, it is the simpler things. I do however make an excellent cheesecake. A real New Yorker. I have to bring it and then myself to family functons. I love to look at recipes and get ideas from there. Also when I travel I do collect cookbooks. I have at least 200 + and counting.
My favorite things to cook
Any kind of pasta dish, especilly lasagne.
I like to make pies but they do not come out that well, although my son says he loves them. Good Kid!
Any kind of chicken, I'm always experimenting.
My cooking triumphs
Cheescake.
Lasagne.
Taco soup with multi colored rotini noodles which happened by mistake. I had leftover taco meat and tomato soup. I put it all in a pot and heated it. Cooked a couple handfuls of rotini and threw that in. The whole shebang was gone by the time I got home from work.
My cooking tragedies
Tried to make a pot pie. Yuck! Never again. It was runny, tasteless and I think I used too many vegetables. I bounced it right into the trash and immediately called the pizza place.
