Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
Minor changes based on earlier feedback. Added chopped garlic along with green onion. Added Worstershire along with beef broth. Cooked up canned, sliced mushrooms along with beef for 1hr. 1/3 C cream cheese & 1/3 C. sour cream added at the end. After browning the meat, removed it from the pan allowing the broth and disolved flour to soak up the pan juices - meat then returned for 1hr simmer.

Original Irish Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
used Canadian whisky...Used blender to mix. At the end there was a cheese-like curd at the top. Thought the Carnation or cream had 'turned' but the "best before" on both was fine??? Had to pull it out leaving the drink lacking in creaminess. Also, following the recipe - it's extremely strong?

Chicago-Style Hot Dog

We have what we call "Steamies" in Quebec all the time. This , however is MUCH better. I use Angus Beef franks and load it up with the condiments in the order stated - I bet it DOES affect the taste...

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
The sauce made this a 5*!! Minor changes based on others' feedback.... Only cooked it up in the oven 35 min (more than enough time). Sauteed fresh, sliced mushrooms in the skillet the chops came out of and added them to the sauce. Did the (doubled) sauce in a sauce pan on the stove and served it up at the table. Deeeelicious!!

Chili Rubbed Pork Tenderloin With Apricot Ginger Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
Only changes were in using real ginger and less of the hot stuff. I couldn't do the Tenderloins on the grill cause it was 0 degrees outside. Sauced them and did them in a pan in the oven at 425 F for 10 min, then flipped em' and added more of the sauce. Made the mistake of just using the olive oil spray - should have used foil on the pan - the sauce that slipped off the tenderloins really burned to the pan. Had to cook a little longer to get them medium (another 5-8 min).

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
Followed the recipe to a 'T' with the exception of using less Portobello mushroom, (about 1/4 less). A little labor-intensive with the adding of the broth (in 1/4 C. increments) to the rice but in the end well worth it. It was absolutely fabulous - thick and tasty!.

Double Decker Tacos

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Probably the best Taco I've ever had...My son & I always differed on the choice of hard Tacos (him), vs soft Tacos (me) - this recipe takes care of both. Couldn't find a ripe fruit for the guacamole so I cut it into tiny pieces & mixed with sour cream and lime juice. Very, very tasty and without the mess!

Cheater Pot Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
Followed recipe with the exception, (based on others' input) of broiling chicken breasts for 8-10 min each side - then cubing. As well, I used low fat cream of celery soup along with low fat cream of chicken. Finally, I placed the flaky biscuits on the bottom as well as the top of the pie.

Easy Mushroom Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Went with minor changes to recipe - used cream of mushroom soup instead of onion. Used fresh shrooms'. Was worried that uncooked rice in the oven would result in some uncooked - wrong - they were perfectly done - EXCELLENT and easy recipe!.

We loved it - following changes - used red, green peppers along with mushrooms instead of zucchini. Threw in a little sesame oil & pineapple chunks into the apricot sauce. Served on chinese noodles - very nice!

Funny - followed recipe exactly except for adding 1 egg to bind it - put more horseradish than it called for (love horseradish) - & yet, didn't really taste neither it nor the bacon bits. Close to bland...

Salsa Chicken Burrito Filling

Very nice! Dropped the hot spice/sauce as taco seasoning had enough for my delicate palate. Put them in a casserole under the broiler for a few minutes (just to melt the cheese).

Hearty Hamburger Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
Hearty, good comfort soup!!! No changes to recipe other than doubling up on the herbs/spices. Well worth the wait of 2 hrs to eat - would suggest waiting as the flavours really come together. Eat it earlier, & I'm sure the flavour would be less scrumptious.
