Horseradish Deviled Eggs

Made these for a potluck and they were gone in seconds. People said they were the best devilled eggs they'd ever had. I have to take their word, because I didn't even get to try one.

All-Day Apple Butter

I tried this recipe to use up some delicious heritage apples I was given. Made as directed and it is delicious. It did take less time to cook down, and more time to get rid of the water than the recipe states, but slow cookers vary. Glad I tried this. Thanks!

Bodacious Broccoli Salad

Oh My Gosh Muffins

OH MY GOSH! Made exactly per recipe except made 12 large muffins, and baked them for 30 minutes. They were perfect in every way. 25 minutes seems too much time for small muffins, so I expect if your muffins were dry, they were cooked too long.

French Pastry Pie Crust

Finnish Pulla

The smell of this baking brough my Finnish Grandma into my kitchen. I did use a heaping Tablespoon of cardomom and it was perfect. When I tasted it, I remembered that she used sugar water instead of egg wash to make the sugar stick. Other than than, it was perfect. I baked it in the middle of the oven for 24 minutes and it was browned but not at all burnt. She used to make doughnuts with the dough too. I will try that sometime. Thanks for the wonderful recipe and the memories of a wonderful Finnish lady.

Peppered Bacon and Tomato Linguine

Incredibly good and easy, too! Made as listed but only used 1/2 the linguine and it was lots for 3 people. I couldn't find peppered bacon so used regular bacon and sprinkled it liberally with fresh ground pepper after it was cooked and drained. Will make again and again.

Maple Cookies

Delicious as written. Mine were nicely maple flavoured, but I use amber (very dark) maple syrup from a local producer for baking as it has a much stronger taste than the grocery store stuff.

Thai Peanut Chicken

Sauce was bland when made as stated. I added 1/3 brown sugar and a teaspoon or two of sesame oil. As per other reviews, I made enough rice and chicken for the three of us, and left the rest of the quanities the same. Pretty good when played with a bit. A good starting place for a great chicken recipe.

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Cake was outstanding! Made 4 8" layers and baked 20 minutes. As per other reviews I made the cake the night before. I used this frosting and it was good but maybe a little sweet. I make a better buttercream from an old family recipe.

Banana Muffins I

Made a double batch with no change except adding 1 t cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg. They were so good you don't miss the fat at all. Will make again and again experimenting with adding raisins, chocolate chips, etc.
