Slow Cooker Reuben Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
Wow! People were literally scraping the bowl to get the last of this dip! I served it with the square mini-rye and it was amazing. I used a little more thousand island dressing to keep it moist. My husband has already requested this as an addition to his weekly football tailgating menu for this fall.

Best Football Dip Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
I used leftover taco meat and this was a big hit. I didn't give it 5 stars because it just didn't look great, but it is definitely a football dip made for men.

Hot Corn Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
I really liked the taste of this dip and I followed the directions exactly. However, my guests that I served it to didn't find the look of it very appealing so it didn't really get eaten. I wouldn't choose to make this again since no one else liked the look of it.

Slow Cooker Lancaster County Pork and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
Wow! This is an after work lifesaver. I followed the recipe exactly and it only took me 3 minutes before work to throw it together in the crockpot and it is ready when I get home. I can't emphasize enough how these simple ingredients go together to make a wonderful flavor and super tender meat.

Ugly Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
This tasted pretty good but the name says it all, it is pretty darn ugly! Since it really doesn't look very appetizing not a lot of people tried it at my party so I had a ton left over. With all of the wonderful dips out there I would skip this one and make a dip that tastes AND looks delicious!

Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
Oh my goodness! I have had fried green tomatoes a few times in restaurants and after seeing some beautiful green tomatoes at the farmers market I was inspired to try to make them myself. This recipe couldn't have been any simpler and yeilded the most delicious results!! I didn't have any saltines so I used oyster crackers that I ran through the food processor to get an even consistency. Also, I added a little bit of vegetable oil to my butter since it started to burn. Once I added the oil it went perfectly. My husband and I devoured these dipped in ranch dressing and I can't wait to serve them the next time we entertain! Thank you so much for the wonderful recipe.

Sauteed Swiss Chard with Parmesan Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
Honest to goodness this was just terrible! It had to be that we just don't care for swiss chard since I love every other ingredient. Thank you for the recipe it was fun giving swiss chard a try but I certainly won't be making this again.

Egg-Yolk Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
I made it exactly how it called for, really I had a bunch of egg yolks leftover from making angel food cake and I didn't want to waste them so I gave this a try. All of my guests agreed that this was just "OK" and no one went back for seconds.

Unbelievable Grilled Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
Really just OK. I made it exactly how the recipe states, I actually thought it tasted more like a 3 1/2 stars but none of the people I served it to really mentioned it and no one went back for seconds.

Grilled Broccoli

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
Wow!! My husband's favorite vegetable is broccoli and this was an amazing way to make it. I would have never ever thought to make broccoli on the grill but I am so glad that I found this recipe. The only changes I made was to reduce the oil by a little bit and squeezed two lemons into the marinade. Also, I let it marinade for a few hours and cooked it a little bit longer over lower heat and just sprinkled the cheese on it while it was on the grill. Everyone was eating it right off the grill it was so good! I can't recommend this enough for an inexpensive, and super healthy bbq side dish!

Apple Goat Cheese Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
This was a really delicious and simple appetizer. It seemed much fancier than it actually was, and it definitely didn't taste like there were so few ingredients in it! The only change that I made was sprinkling a little bit of olive oil over the bread before I toasted it on parchment paper since I liked my crostini that way. This will definitely be a recipe that is going into my rotation!

Cola Onion Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
I was really excited for this recipe because I love simple things like this that can be made from things I always have in the house. However, it was pretty unappealing when it came out of the oven, and it just didn't smell appetizing. The pork was very moist, but the sauce wasn't thick at all. I always make 3 small pork chops for my husband and I for dinner and I knew this wasn't very good when my hubby didn't go back for his second pork chop and asked for more salad ;) I wouldn't say that this was bad, but I won't be making it again. There is a similar pork chop recipe on allrecipes.com made with cola, brown sugar, and ketchup that is outstanding that I will be sticking with.

California Italian Wedding Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
This was a very good soup, I was surprised how light and flavorful it was. The fresh lemon zest really made it outstanding. I think it is important to take the time to roll the meatballs really tiny to make the soup easy to eat. I also omitted the pasta and largely increased the amount of spinach to keep the calories down. This was filling, and kept in the refrigerator really well. I didn't give this 5 stars because I didn't think it was "craveable". I made it a couple of weeks ago and by the time the pot was empty I was done with it, and I haven't wanted it since.

Tortellini Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
This is a very satisfying and hearty soup. The only change that I made was to use hot italian sausage for added flavor, I think that I could have used 1/2 lb instead of a full lb of sausage though. There is quite a bit of sausage in this soup. This is really nice for a change of pace for lunch, with the tortellini and sausage it is definitely filling enough.

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
Wow!! What a perfect and super easy dinner! I used london broil since it was on sale for super cheap and just dumped it in the Crock Pot, threw the sliced garlic on top, and dumped in the pepperoncini. I did cut off the tops/stems from each pepperoncini before I put it in the Crock Pot, but even with this step this meal took under 5 minutes of prep time in the morning. When I got home from work I threw some tater tots in the oven, and heated up some veggies. During the last few minutes of the tater tots cooking I put the beef into sub rolls, it was so tender it just fell apart with a fork, covered it in the pepperoncini's, and put a slice of provolone on top of each sandwich. I threw these in the oven with the tots for about 3 minutes to melt the cheese and they came out perfect!! My husband hasn't stopped raving about this delicious dinner since I made it! Total this dinner cost me under $5 including the side items and tasted wonderful. I love recipes that can be made with stuff that I keep in my pantry. This will definitely satisfy a fast-food craving without the expense or thousands of calories. Thank you for the wonderful recipe, I am adding this into my rotation.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
These are officially called "Meat Candy" at our parties! This couldn't be any easier and they are a huge hit, especially with men. They are nice to serve as well since you can make them a few hours in advance, toss them in the Crock-Pot and they just get better. Also, the toothpicks make them really easy for people to just reach in and grab one. We have also made these at night and instead of tossing them in the Crock-Pot after the oven we just refrigerate them in a small foil tray and our hubbies have brought them down to tailgate with and just put the foil tray directly on the grill and let them warm up. They are a favorite for tailgating now!

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
The actual cake of this was delicious but my topping didn't turn out at all like a crumb topping. It actually made the cake look very unappealing. I would make this again and serve it without any topping, and it would be much better.

Pumpkin Fluff Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
This was very easy to make and a big hit for fall football parties as an easy dessert. It is nice because you can make it ahead of time and then just pull it out when you are ready to serve. I served it with apple slices and cinnamon graham crackers, everyone preferred the freshness of the apples with it. The dip is very good but super sweet, borderline kid's sugary sweet but none of the kids really liked the pumpkin. I served it to people who love sugary sweets so it was fine, but personally a little bit of this went a very long way for me. Delicious, but I only put a tiny bit of dip on my apples and crackers.

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Wow! I am a terrible baker, and needed a cookie to bring to a holiday cookie exchange. I made these and I can't tell you how wonderful they came out! Out of 18 different cookies everyone couldn't stop raving about my cookies. They taste like Thin Mint girl scout cookies, but even better...I know, I didn't think it was possible either! Also, if you keep them in a tupperware container in your refrigerator they keep for as long as you can keep from eating them! The only change I made to the recipe is that I used a full Andes mint on each one instead of breaking them in half. You will not be dissapointed by these!
