Chicken Bouillon Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2007
I added salt and butter to mine. Actually, this is pretty close to the way I make rice (adding salt and butter really helps!), and I also like to add some frozen veggies to it, makes for a nice time-saver sidedish.

Irish Soda Bread in a Skillet

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2007
I loved the ease of this and thought the taste was wonderful! I used distilled white vinegar (that's all I had) and added a tsp. of powdered buttermilk. I am rating this 5 stars but my 8yo said it was "3 and 1/2 because its kind of hard and has a flour taste". Kids! (; Thanks for the great recipe!

Favorite Banana Blueberry Quick Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2007
I made this a few weeks ago and it burned badly and the top fell as soon as it cooled. I would like to try again at some point (maybe I did something wrong), but I am not sure I will attempt again. Sorry. I couldn't even take a pic ):

Peach Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2007
This was wonderful! I combined this recipe with Linda's recipe on this site---'Potato Plum Dumplings'. It was very tasty, soooo good! (See posted pics). My 3yo and I had such fun making this, it was very messy, LOL! We enjoyed, thanks for the memories!

Best Ever Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2007
I have made this recipe several times before. I think it is very sweet but my 8yo loves these, so 5 stars! The vanilla adds a very nice touch (almost cake-like).

Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2007
Update: I have started making a huge batch of these and freezing them in plastic ziplocks. Whenever my 3yo wants a 'baked potato', I take one out and microwave it for 2-3 minutes. Original review: Very classic, kid-friendly! I added more butter than called for, and also sour cream. I also halved the recipe (there are only 4 of us). Great way to stretch a potato! Thanks for the yummy post!

Great for a quick lunch! Added refried beans and didn't used the green chilies or cayenne. I spiced with my husband's spice mixture. Thanks for the post!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
This was good (had for lunch, we made a cheese bread instead of using red sauce and other toppings), but I think I prefer my other fav pizza dough recipe---I just like the proportions better (fits nicely in my pizza stone). This makes ALOT of dough...but thanks for letting me time something different!

These were really good, reminded me of the ones you make with the box mix. However, the edges got kind of hard and crunchy. The middle ones were perfect, though. Thanks for the post!

Afternoon Tea Scones

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
Dough was very sticky to work with! I kept adding flour. I did not add the currents or raisins (personal preference) and just made plain scones. Maybe that had something to do with it...probably won't make again, but thanks for letting me try a different scone recipe.

Brazilian White Rice

Thank you, Nanda, for a great recipe! The water did not all absorb for me, put I think I need to use a better pan next time with a tighter fitting lid. I simmered for 10 more minutes than stated and it was fine. We ate this with Hawaiian Chili from this site. Thanks for the satisfying, yummy meal!

Hawaiian-Style Chili

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
Wow--this was so good! I loved the salty vs. sweet combo, it was delicious. I followed the first reviewer's advice and cut the onions way down, but otherwise followed the recipe. Also took the suggestion of adding the pineapple juice to the broth. Edit: Oops, I forgot to get the kidney beans at the store and so I didn't get to use those in this recipe (posted pic), but next time I definately will remember! (: Thanks, Christain!

Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
This recipe was in a cooking magazine that I get through the mail. Made these with my cookie trays last Xmas (posted pic). They were really good, really, really rich, but I got lots of compliments on them. Very easy, if a little messy, to do.

Cinnamon Bread Delight

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
Have made this bread a Christmas tradition, thanks for the post! Original review: 12/24/05 I only had a small box of vanilla pudding mix intsead of the larger size (5 oz) and it still turned out amazing---2 beautiful golden loaves. I love the cinn./sugar coating on the bottom of the pans---made a sugary, spicey crust.

French Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2007
A good, basic bread recipe. I customized the recipe to 1/2 and then added ingredients into my bread machine, starting with 2 cups of flour, then adding about a cup more until the dough wasn't sticky. I thought it was very nice, with that signature chewy crust.

Glazed Yeast Doughnuts

Good---almost a cake-like donut. Someone else said biscuit-like, and I would agree with that! We skipped making the glaze and dipped them in Eagle Brand. My 6 year old loved them! Not a healthy snack, but we had so much fun making them! Thanks for the post!

Yummy Potato Skins

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2007
Update: Tried these again and used zesty Italian and sprinkled sea salt over them and they were actually pretty tasty! Served with ranch dressing. Thanks for the frugal recipe! Original review: No one in my family would eat these. I tried some and they were "ok". Not alot of flavor. Thanks for the "creative" idea, though. Just didn't work for us. ):
