This is such a good idea! Since seeing this recipe several years ago I cut my kids' toast into 4ths.

This is a great breakfast. Sometimes we add fried tortilla strips or crushed tortilla chips (migas).

Update: I combined this recipe with 'Peach Dumplings' on this site. I wasn't sure what farina was, so I just added more flour. Thanks so much, Linda, Caleb and I had such fun making this. Happy 7-7-07! Made a '7-up' cake for breakfast at 7am, hahaha, right? Wish I could give it 7 stars! This was good! I would like to try a different cake mix with it---maybe chocolate? My son liked the chocolate chips in it and the yellow cake mix hid the pineapple, so maybe chocolate wouldn't work. Thanks for the post!

My mom used to make a version of this for us kids---except she added mayo to the mix. I think we called it 'hot dog salad'. I had forgotten about it, thanks for the memories!

Have been making these for several years at Easter. These are soooo good with a cup of coffee! Great kids recipe/ great lesson. I do have a problem with marshmallow leaking out, and I use 2 triangles of dough to cover the marshmallow.

I didn't have a full jar of mar. cherries, and I had 3 really brown bananas so I added the bananas to the mix. Also did 1/2 tsp. almond ex. and 1/2 vanilla. I ground everything up really small in my magic bullet (cherries and pecans) so my picky 8yo would eat it. It was like a Christmas bread, I thought. I guess the cherries in it made me think of the holidays! Anyway, it was really yummy & thanks for the post, we enjoyed!

Update: made this a second time, and I mixed the marshmallows in while the chocolate/peanut butter was melting because my husband doesn't like marshmallows (didn't want him to know they were there!). I love this recipe and have added it to my permenant recipe file. Thanks! Original review: Wow---this recipe satisfied a chocolate craving! I halved the recipe... I didn't have quite enough choc. chips so I used 1/2 cup choc. chips + 3 squares of semisweet baker's chocolate. I also had to use large marshmallows, so I just used 2 hand fulls of those. Put in a sqaure baking pan covered with wax paper to cool. Thanks for the post!

I really liked this recipe! I did make some changes. I used my bread machine to mix the dough, and trade 1 tsp. of bkgpwdr for yeast. I also used butter instead of shortening. Thanks for the post! PS Reduced temp. to 400.

I rolled out the dough and cut with a cookie cutter rather than using the drop method. Pretty good biscuit---I like that they had whole wheat! They were really flat but that is the w.w. in there. Thanks for the recipe! Reminds me of 'English Degestives' my mom used to make us. PS Used reg. milk as I do not stock soy.
